The person I'm talking about is Raymond from Singapore, known as Glossman on the Forum.

A couple of weeks ago I purchased from Raymond on eBay a Trophy Crimean Lancer. When Raymond saw that I was the winning bidder, he refused to take any money for it, including shipping, because I had done a favor for him a couple of years ago; in reality it was a very small favor. I received the Lancer today and I just want to thank him and recognize him publicly.

There are a lot of good people in this hobby and Raymond is one of them and not just for this but for his thoughtful posts and friendship.

So again, Raymond, many thanks and here are some photos I took this afternoon.

A gentleman doing a favor for a gentleman to repay a favor the gentleman had done him earlier . . . this hobby is full of terrific people.:smile2:

I have planned on meeting Raymond in June when I'm visiting S'pore,

so hope to have some intersting conversations about our hobby when there.

Fully thing is that he's as close to me ( 5 hour flight) as the east coast of Australia !!!!

Just when all the silliness and bickering about this and that in the hobby gets you down, someone always does something so nice that shows you what the hobby is really about. Bravo Raymond!

Can't think of any hobby which could be enjoyed thoroughly without the involvement of others. Certainly there is a level of excitement getting a new or rare piece in the collection; but it is sharing the experience that, at least for me, takes it to a higher level.

Among fellow enthusiasts the camradery is also an integral part. Here we see an example in action.

Congrats on a nice piece too.

Raymond is a "Diamond Geezer" as we say in South London, my old stomping ground :wink2:

Translation of "Diamond Geezer" for all my mates further a field than Clapham and Battersea ^&grin

"Usage in London and further afield - a geezer is, well, it means 'he's one of us'. An older person tends to be a geezer. You wouldn't usually call a child or a young man a geezer. It tends to be an older person. A geezer is your mate. It's somebody reliable, solid, a trustworthy person. And 'diamond' in front of it is, well, diamonds of course are wonderful things, they're special things, they're valuable things, so a diamond something, is a very special something. So, a diamond geezer is a reliable person who's really a very special person. So you add all that up, and you get an equivalent in 'he's a good sort', 'he's an OK chap', 'he's a great bloke', 'he's a good feller', 'he's a hero' - these are the glosses for diamond geezer"

Cheers

Martyn:)

This act does not surprise me at all, Raymond is indeed a true gentleman and the class of person that makes this forum so enjoyable. {bravo}}

Hi Brad,

I am overwhelmed by your kind words of thanks and generous gesture of appreciation. In turn, I say a very big thank you for your thank you.

As the saying goes, "One good turn deserves another" so it is my pleasure to gift this set to you. I am glad you like the set and hope it will be a nice addition to your Trophy collection.

We enjoy a wonderful hobby of collecting toy soldiers/military miniatures. It is at moments like this when I feel that the friendships and goodwill that the hobby fosters is what this is really all about.

May I also thank all the members who posted kind comments and likes...much appreciated too.

Best Wishes, Raymond. :)
