This morning, i found this highly detailed figure at the newspaper kiosk from the " Lord of the rings" " The hobbit" series,70 mm.
It is a resin figure of " Radagast" the forest wizard. It has been realized with a new software from the photos of the movie....Maybe with a 3D printer? And hand painted. The face, beard are highly detailed as well as the different brown shades of the clothes. And all this without black lines {sm3}

this technology will revolutionise the hobby when someone introduces it. IMO it will make redundant the hand process of painting figures. The possibilities will be endless and, as a new tech savvy generation grows up with this it will be the norm not the exception.

Yes, it is strange that no manufacturer has started to produce with this new technology yet, and I wonder when this will happen and who will be the first.

Yes it probably will change things, for mass production but I believe there will still be a need for artisans. In the same way that you can now buy mass produced plastic furniture but people still like hand made wooden furniture.

an actor , an airdresser, an accurate armour ( x0000,00 US$ ..) weapons, decoration; armour for the horse, etc
and the horse must no move during the scan, so now you want him in action, full galop ... still scaning ?

You are right. It needs a lot of photos to do a 3D figure.

Another nice fantasy figure of the "Lord of the rings" serie.....With the 3D technology it is possible to create very tiny and slim arms, legs as you can see in the pictures below:

With fantasy figures, you can also make a diorama with mixed traditional figures and fantasy ones as here below for example...I think this could be a good idea to do something different from the usual war dioramas, at least for me it is.
