I received the second release of the 114th PA Zouaves this past Friday afternoon. I thought I would share what I have been doing with them. I am having a very difficult time this morning uploading my photos to Photobucket so I have resorted to using the "Manage Attachments" forum tool.

I'm not a big fan of Zouaves Mike but these are excellent photos, particularly the second one where the mountains seem at a great distance because the camera focus is on the soldiers. Very well done.

Brad

Mike: I agree with Brad. That second photo is textbook perfect. It splices incredible composition with great attributes of the realistic and authentic figurines,cannon and back drops.As well done as one could get to depict artillery in action at Gettysburg. Worthy of an award. Really.

Mike, # 2 photo is neat. The problem with a background or back drop for artillery is that the guns look "nek-kid" without a limber or even a limber chest behind them.

Would have bet it wouldn't take you long to get your new Zouaves in front of your camera Mike and very nicely done good sir.{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Good point that WB should release some caissons with standing horses or by themselves.

Good photos.....

Hi Mike,

With or without limbers this is a great looking dio. {bravo}}

Great pictures Mike, I hope to be adding a few Zouaves to the collection some, not matte I'm afraid^&grin

Cheers

Martyn:)

Thanks everyone: Brad, Jeff, Scott, Joe, nysoldiers, Jeff, Michael, and Martyn.

I know that limbers and caissons are on the WB planning board for a future release. When they do become available I will most assuredly be acquiring some . . . . .

Another great "You are there" series Mike. Who makes the fence? Chris

Mike,

I like that you have vivandiere Mary Tepe in with your unit. She doesn't get mentioned in the histories that I have seen, but there is a photo of her at Gettysburg taken a few days later.

I plan to get Britain's Mary to add to my cantiniere collection.

Nicely Done Mike, I've only got the flagbearer so far, but they are like potato chips, you know. You can't have just one.

Very nice work, lot of good stories lines in these photos....great detail.......keep them coming...

Very nice- as if they were made for that exact thing... or were they?

Thanks again Scott and thank you Jeff, Rick, and Sandor . . . ..

Mary Tepe was a very colorful and active member of the 114th PA serving the unit as seamstress, cook, nurse, water bearer, etc. She was with the regiment at Gettysburg and probably saw alot of the action. Certainly a must have in any 114th scenario.

Sandor, the 114th PA Zouaves did fight at Gettysburg on July 2, 1863. They sacrificed themselves so that Bucklyn's gun section located in the Sherfy barnyard could withdrawal before Barksdale's rebel brigade could capture the two guns. In the process the 114th was swept off the field by the Confederates at a terrific loss. This is my small interpretation of that action. The two guns and crew are sold separately and can be used for a variety of Union arty units. The 114th Zouaves were designed for a Gettysburg scenario.

A beautiful series of photos Mike. It goes without saying that your "toys" are some of the best out there. You have used your skills to blend them together and make them fit flawlessly together. Great job sir!!
