When are we going to have a letup on these ads that we get bombarded with every darn day promising discounts (usually in caps, a form of shouting) or massive discounts.

It crowds out collectors trying to sell, but more than that this bombardment just gets annoying.

Brad we agree as usual. Seems like a certain dealer has no shame!
The classifieds should be for collectors occasionally trying to part with a few items. Not A dealer using this as his personal ad page.
No problem with dealers occasionally listing special items they have for sale, that is helpfull.
For whatever reason, I,m afraid this will be allowed to continue, probably our post will be deleted as we are not being nice to this "nice guy" as proclaimed by the masses.

Don't have a problem with it. Maybe I do not understand where you are coming from. If you see his post then just ignore it. If he is emailing you or sending you stuff in your PM box, then I definitely understand your frustration and would understand your statements.

Please, I am not trying to be argumentative.....

If you are a collector and you are looking for a certain item and this seller posts the item, wouldn't you be glad to get it at a discounted price, or get it at all if it is a retired item?

Again, just do not have a problem with it.

I have to agree with the gentleman from Alabama. I browse the ads on this forum just like I browse the ads in my newspaper. I have purchased a few items from the dealer referenced that I would not otherwise have.

I have to agree with the man from New Jersey. It is annoying. I'm still trying to figure out why our hosts even allow this practice.

Not again. What is more tiresome is the repetitive complaints. I certainly don't feel crowded out and have had no trouble finding things from this gentleman and many others here, so the "problems" are really myths. This has been hashed out too many times so when is enough, enough?:) I hope this silly thread does get deleted.

For some collectors who do not have the opportunity to go to shows, the classifieds is a major source of buying hard to find products. Maybe there is a way for you to block there ads if it bothers you so much.

Out of the last 45 ads, only 9 were from dealer...Do not see the issue? Michael

The problem is that they are in your face every time you log on to the board and hit the "New Posts" link. If you don't like "Repetitive Complaints" then don't read them :)

They're is a big difference between a "Dealer" & a "Fellow Collector" Selling Items.

We have been in contact with Stan and have an agreement on the number of posts he'll do in a day...

That is a real beauty is in the eye observation. So to use your suggestion, if you don't like his ads don't read them. Just because something is in the new posts list does not mean it needs to be read.;) Relatively speaking, I simply find all this whining about the gentleman's ads much more annoying than any ad ever could be. To me and I would think most any other collector looking for items, it matters not a whit whether he is a dealer or not.

If you don't like his ads don't read them and if you don't like my post, well so be it.

Now how could you possibly think that I did not thoroughly enjoy your thought provoking post ?

I think we need to remember that this forum is for everyone and not just for some. The adds did not really bother me even though I don't buy stuff from them many do and just cannot see the harm. I think a few on here believe this site should be run according to their values and desires and, my forum friends happily it is not.

This site is big enough for every collector and dealer to do it all. IMO

Ordinarily I'd agree with those who say "what's the big deal, just don't read them," and I'd skip over them if I were a buyer. However, I decided to post a few things for sale and with the amount of postings that we're getting from him, it crowds things out.

The purpose is for collectors to be able to sell to other collectors, not dealers. What if every dealer came on here and started doing it? It defeats the purpose.

I thought the purpose was for anyone to sell to anyone who wanted to buy. As I buyer, I am happy to learn of these items. If you feel your ads are crowded out, simply refresh them. That is what I would do and will do when I get around to selling something. Anyway, Stan is a special case and has explained the types of things he posts here well enough quite some time back. Asked and answered as you know well.;)

Sounds like 'Advert envy' His was bigger than mine.

Brad,

Stan posted only one post yesterday and one today and I am sure you are aware of the deal he has made with Shannon & Peter. Have a look at what has been posted over the last few days in the classified, you will find very little from Stan. If anything this thread is keeping your sale lower down on the totem pole.
