Does anyon else collect from AeroArt? I buy ten to fifteen figures a year from them love their soldiers just have to be pickey on what I buy because of their cost. I like the crusaders almost all of their knights Mongols and Romans. Any other Aero Art collectors out there?

Hello APACHEJOL,

I also collect AeroArt / St. Petersburg Romans.

The detail is incredible.

I was fortunate enough to pickup an additional two new pieces from Thor this weekend at the West Coaster.

I collect them. They are great figures, but the prices have increased, the quality has flattened out and competition has gotten a lot stronger in recent years. So I have moved away from buying anything other than the best of their best. Also, it can be frustrating trying to get your hands on a particular figure since they are often out of stock and seldom can provide info on when a new one will be available. Collecting them is more like a treasure hunt. When you get that perfect figure though there is nothing better.

I have most of their ACW and Rome figures, with a some figures from other historical eras like knights that happen to catch my eye.:)

I collect their ACW figures. I would love to get my hands on some of their discontinued figures like, Chamberlain and Jackson. If anyone knows of someone willing to part with them :)

I have tryed to find a collectors selling some of the discontinued figures. Although I have found plenty of collectors no one will to sell the retired figures.

I like the ACW too, have Longstreet Mounted and Lee Standing. Anyone know where to find pictures of the older ones for reference?

Aeroart released a book a couple of years ago that contains pictures and other information regarding most, if not all, of their releases. It costs quite a bit, but is a must for any serious St. Pete collector. I'm hoping they supplement it in the near future. One of the interesting things is how low the production numbers are for each figure. Usually less than 50 pieces. A few of the more popular figures like the civil war may be as high as a couple hundred but rarely anything beyond that number.

I have the book that has all the figures produced up until I think 2005, anyway two of the items I was most impressed with were the civil war gun and limbers I think 18 made of the Union 21 Confed numbers my be off but not alot were produced and they looked amazing!

I collect the Samurai figures, and have been thinking about picking up the book........do you guys think it is worth the price? I would probably buy it, if I had a chance to get a look at it.......but no luck on that so far.

Its really cool they list all the figures with nice colored pictures tell you what year the figure was made, the artist, sculptor, how many were made and if there were any problems during the design and production of the figures. It is expensive but I thought it was worth it. IMO

Hmmm. I disagree as I still don't see the gap closing anywhere along the line. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth. I just bought this guy two weeks ago to add to my collection- He stands out against my other figures like Pamela Anderson at a weight watchers convention.

Pamela was a bit heavy the last time I saw her - up top anyway ;)

BTW- I have often wondered- what is St. Pete's release schedule- does anyone know that? I usually check AeroArt's website every other day. They don't do things like dispatches, smoke signals, etc to usher in new releases- anyone got any inside information they would care to share?? It seems like I have been looking at the same figures for the past 12 months.

I agree there is nothing even close to these figures! They are the best toy soldiers produced in the world nothing else is even close.

This is impossible. You just have to keep checking the website they always add figures but very slowly. They get a shipment around the 15 of each month but they do not list all the new figures right away they do it slowly and many lines will get nothing new for months. I contact Thor and Nikki to ask what I should look for and they are always very helpful. I know for sure they will have a big shipment in mid april. I hope this helps as I do understand your frustration I check the website all the time to finally find a figure I want and it is sold out because they only recieved two and dont know when they will recieve anymore. Now I cheat I call and ask them. Thanks Joel

Chris - you can sign up on their email list. You don't get a lot of information but they do send out some updates. My experience over the past few years is that any new figures show up first on their ebay site. They post figures everyday but your best bet is 9PM on Thursday when they put up several. Anything new will usually sell within a few minutes. My hairline has receded a great deal in trying to get any information from them about new figures. I think dealing with the russian artists makes it impossible to have much idea what is coming in or when they will get it. That's just the nature of doing business in russia rather than with a "factory" in China. Thor is a great guy. You can email him and arrange to visit his annex in VA where he stores all the figures. Much better than the shows when he is dealing with a crowd of collectors.
