Here's my newest addition to my AAF collection.

This pilot figure from K&C is top notch as usual. For my backdrop I have depicted Jack Ilfrey's P-38J named "Happy Jack's Go Buggy". Ilfrey was part of the 79th Fighter Squadron of the 20th Fighter Group stationed at Kingscliffe England in the Spring of 1944. In this plane he took down a 109 on a escort mission over Germany. It was knocked down as a result of having an accidental head on mid air collision with it, taking off the tip of Ilfrey's right wing and sending the German plunging to Earth. Ilfrey managed to make it back to Kingscliffe with the damaged wing. (Very interesting reading from "Happy Jack's Go Buggy - A Fighter Pilot's Story" by Jack Ilfrey with Mark S. Copeland / Schiffer Publishing 1998)

I've gotten a new camera and this was a "test session" using different lighting, flash/no flash, backdrop, etc., so some of the pictures are not the best.

Awesome job all around, Duke!:) The pics look great and I love the P-38!

Duke

Very nice--who made the plane?

Randy

Great !!!!!!!What is it?King & Country Warbirds?
Mario

Thanks guys.

The P-38 pictured here is a 1/32 Revell plastic model I just finished building/painting.

The P-38 is such a large fighter that I felt like it wouldn't look too much out of scale with the 1/30 K&C pilot. But in reality, the plane should look much bigger than it does in the photos in relation to the pilot.

Very nice pic Duke, great job on the model, she looks a beaut.

Thank you kindly Rob. :)

It was a fun "build", although the P-38 is a complicated plane to model. I assume it to be too large/complicated for K&C to try in polystone?

I don't think that would work in poly. Here is the wooden they built.

Brad that's a nice looking wooden P-38 model of Richard Bong's (America's top fighter ace of WWII) P-38 "Marge" from the Pacific theater.

Thanks guys.

Also meant to mention besides the model being 1/32 Revell, that the decals for "Happy Jacks Go Buggy" are from EagleCals.

Nice display, thanks for sharing. The USAAF line is one that I am definitely dipping my toe into. It looks really good from what I've seen so far and we haven't even scratched the surface in terms of releases. I'm eagerly awaiting more airplanes, ground support vehicles and personnel.
