Airfix original plastic figures (1 Viewer)

Hi

this year 2010 they are due to release Australian Infantry, German Mountain Troops , British Infantry Support Group and finally the Soviets/Russians - ALL WW2.

For 2011/2012/2013 hopefully will see the Gurkhas and Japanese Inf WW2 , Plus the Waterloo 4 x sets of British Inf, Highland Inf , French Inf and French Imperial Guard Grenadiers and the Wild West 7th Cavalry , Cowboys and Indians sets.

I think that leaves the Mediaeval foot soldiers and the 4 x sets of "Modern" 1980's soldiers British, Soviet, West German and US.

They must be popular because every time I go to my wholesalers they are sold out of most sets.

Maybe Airfix will make some new 1/32nd sets??

Regards

cool

Does anybody have pictures of the modern Soviet and US figures. I really don't remember those though I guess they might have come out after I lost a bit of interest in such things.
I don't remember any SAS either but I did have the modern German and British. Really nice sets.

Always thought the poses on the Russians and NATO troops were a bit 'static' and too skinny, whilst the SAS were bang on the mark.

Thanks Simon- I see what you mean about the Russians and NATO. They do look a bit skinny somehow especially compared to the modern Brits and Germans which were a bit more detailed.
The SAS look good- I'm sorry I missed out on them.

Or maybe 2001 Iraqi troops :D

You know what, I never even considered that! There's me crying out for more modern stuff, and there it is under my nose.
Hmmmm.....I feel a bit of mild conversion and painting coming up.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Cheers
Simon

No probs, there Wraith yea there are not to many modern troops around...FOV are the only ones that come to mind.

Great to see that people are still interested in the Airfix soldier brand particularly the 1/32 scale.

I grew up collecting (and playing) with Airfix and the yearning hasnt stopped  I have at least 1000 figures in the original (very loved) boxes.

My release wishlist
: WWII Italians
: SAS
: US/NATO
: Mod Russians

I do have the above (but not enough ......... of course). I also would like to start on the Waterloo range BUT would need multiple boxes to make up the numbers so would love to know actual release dates.

cheers

Poses were great detail was great and, I think they have never been beaten IMO by any maker since. I have all my brothers and he had many multiples and one day will get into the loft. My favourites were and still are the british commandos.
