At one point I though of having a larger display showing part of the Battle of the Alamo in early 1836. But then I decided to just have a couple of small inlaid wall shelve displays. Ah, I have only so much space to show off my miniatures. The "Last Stand of Jim Bowie" was a must of course. I also have a vignette of Mexican Army attacking the Alamo before they got inside the defensive perimeter.

Nice photos. The Alamo line doesn't get much attention. I have a small Alamo collection and think they are really nice. Thanks for posting.

I agree, I wish K&C would release more with this line. The Alamo is my favorite period. It would be nice for them to cover the subject in detail!

At the OTSN while visiting the K&C San Antonio room, I was told that a wall or and redoubt will soon be out. I did not get a picture of them.

Hi Guys,

Nice to see “Iron Brigade’s” Little Alamo Vignettes…

Re “Pfd119’s” comment that “it would be nice for K&C to cover the subject in detail”… Well, so far K&C has produced 54 separate sets of figures and individuals that include many major personalities (Crockett, Travis, Bowie and Santa Anna)… Mexican cavalry (Lancers and Dragoons)… Artillery (for both sides) and plenty of Mexican Infantry and Texian defenders.

Next March/April there will be more additions to the series… So I don’t think we’re doing too badly!!!

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy C.

sorry but whats the point of a "vignette" when it is hardly different to the original k&c publicity shot .

maybe its just me :( but sycophantism reigns on this forum

In my personal opinion, a forum member is to free to display and photograph his figures in the way he wishes.

Some members may be more original and creative than others in their displays, while others less so.

That said, there is no need to be rude.

Please show us how you display your K&C Alamo collection.

Raymond.

Well said Raymond. After all, how many different ways can you portray the death of Bowie.

Maybe you need to follow the old adage (which I'm sure is known in England) that if you don't have anything nice to say about someone...

Of course, your signature should have been a tipoff ;)

Very nice set Iron Brigade, good idea to have a few smaller scenes to display your figures.

Dear "repk":

Ah, so you want to know what is "the point" of my vignette of of Bowie's Last Stand at the Alamo by K&C. Well, I have 22 inlaid wall shelves in our hallway to the basement and I thought that the Bowie set + and extra Mexican falling soldier figure would look nice in one of these shelves.

I hardly see this small vignette as servile flattery to King & Country or anyone else. And for the record it does not look like K&C's web-site photo with the cut sections of wood I put in to similate the flooring and the sides of the wooden shelve representing the walls of the room Bowie ended up in at the Alamo. And I do not suppose that there were great works of art hanging on the walls of this room at the Alamo. So I am not sure what else needs to be added. Remember this is just a small display, it is not meant to be a splendid diorama.

Nice to see what collectors do when displaying in smaller spaces. Thanks for posting

IB at least spell my name correctly.

nice wood !! bowies room certainly didnt have a wooden wall :)

And certainly not plywood. The thing about plywood is it always looks
like plywood......stained or not.

That said, I don't do the Alamo other than I lived in San Antonio and
loved it. Fort Sam was a prime assignment. Spent most of my free
time playing polo.

Here is a guy that is really into the Alamo. Take some time and go
through it. Nice, but way over my interest in any era. These true
wargamers are at a whole different level. Buildings are Hudson & Allen.
Figures not sure.......or even attempt a guess. At any rate nice.

To "REKP":

Yes, the walls of the room Bowie was in at the end of the Battle of the Alamo were probably made of adobe. Please mail me some adobe and I will put it on the sides of the wooden shelve in question. Hope you have a jolly good time at the next toy soldier show in London. After that let's see some photos of your displays or dioramas!

Seriously, is this necessary? What in the blue moon do you care how someone else displays their soldiers? I am not that creative, I have borrowed many creative ad displays over the year.

Thank you Raymond as well as to others who have left positive feedback on my small or vignette displays on the Alamo. I do not know what "rekp"'s problem was really. Perhaps he eat some bad fish & Chips in jolly old England and it got him into a bad mood, ha, ha.

Best regards, "Iron Brigade" / Gary
