Alma Figures Crimean War - Gloss and Matt (1 Viewer)

I've just received painting instructions from Michel for the Russians and these four figures are to represent the Suzdashki Regiment (32nd) of the 16th Division. I will see if I can make a start on these tomorrow.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I certainly look forward to watching your progress on this set of figures! It is always a joy to observe your work step by step. And,...believe it or not,...I am learning much from observing each step you take.

Thanks for continuing to share your work with us. It is a pleasure to watch a master skillfully perform his craft!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Thanks Pat. :)

Got a bit carried away over the weekend (mainly due to a miserable bank holiday Monday) and as such have got on quite well with the British instead!
Photo tomorrow.

As promised some photos of the British Line Infantry. Soon we will have to decide on the Regt to be depicted and I think the 19th Regiment of Foot (1st Yorks. North Riding) Green Howards would be a good choice as these have nice green facings and of course the background colour to the Regimental flag!

Hmmmmmm........
I think your intentions of painting these as 19th Regt. of Foot, may be less than honourable......:D

Looking good Jeff, in spite of an abscence of green.

Hi Jeff,

Despite all the comments that it will bring you, I think the 19th is a good choice !
And green is not as bad as some seem to think.

Cheers,

Michel

Uuuuuggh! The knife blade in my side has just been given another twist. If only I could bleed green, and therefore have a source for this elusive colour, then it will all be worth it......:p

Thankfully I didn't have to "bleed" to get the facing colour painted :D

The faces and hands were painted with the usual flesh mixed from buff and a little red, I then carried on with the facial hair, shakos and rifles etc.

Coming along as they say...........

I thought that I would make a start on the Russian Suzdashki Regiment and I hope that this colour is suitable for the greatcoats? I tried to match the Russian Gunners from the K&C UK range I have in my collection. Michel if this is not quite what you wanted I can get the green out!

Hi Jeff,

No that looks green..oops meant great !
What colour did you used ? Or did you mixed it your self ?

Michel

Dark green trousers and black boots and pouches etc. Not that you can make out the lovely shade of green very well in these photos :( hence the enlarged pic of the drummer. The red trouser stripe will follow.............

Jeff,
Thanks for the update.
And I apologize, I should have sent figures with coat hooked up : more of the green trouser is visible then :D
Michel

Hmmmph. Looks blue to me. :p

Apart from the colour choice, excellent work Jeff, as we've come to expect from you.

Michel, are you going to use these figures to showcase the range eg, catalogues etc?

Simon

Even though it's BBQ weather :) a bit more detail added to the Russians. Next stage will be to paint the crossbelts and webbing in white and this will be a nice contrast against the greatcoats.

A bit of white here and there and the Drab Old Ruskies don't look too bad
