I hope I have not broken a cardinal rule of the forum doing this...

Great pics by the way. I am wondering if I made a mistake not getting on board early with the Crusader series...

It's never too late as long as you are able to find some existing figures that you like to get started. If you are not too bothered by missing the earlier releases and if K&C (and other manufacturers) can be counted on to come up with new releases, any time is a good time to start. Also, I think some of the newer releases are quite an improvement over the earlier ones. For myself, Crusades is easier than Naps in terms of there being a lesser need to complete some regiment. I just add to my collection in an ad hoc manner when anything catches my fancy from time to time. It is also easy to incorporate other manufacturer's releases (given the wide disparity of military wear for that period) - it's tougher with Naps. All in all, a lot of flexibility is achievable with the Crusades. Just my 2 cents experience so far for Crusades. Naps is potentially the financial black hole for me

DJ66,

I agree about the Crusaders. I've been looking at them for quite a while. I've been collecting ACW, but decided to start a second line. Was trying to decide between Crusaders and AWI. When I took the time yesterday to see what each offered, the Crusaders and Saracens have a lot more color and action, in my opinion. And as someone told me on a previous post, AWI and Napoleonics can get expensive because you have to buy multiples to form firing lines. The Crusaders seem to be better suited as individual pieces, so no need to buy 10 to make a line. I think g18 is right when he says it's not too late, and I'm going to jump in.

I am serioulsy thinking about downsizing my K&C Crusader/Saracen collection to make room for my WB ACW collection. I do plan to keep some of my favorites. If and when you decide to starte collecting this range and are having a hard time finding an older/retired figure, PM me - I'll probably be able to help you out.

Cute response, DJ66. I thought that guy's expression made him look as though he might be experiencing a bit of stress-induced heartburn, or possibly an acting up ulcer or stress-induced indigestion, as Mike concludes. But now I know it's actually from bad tuna! Hey Mike, sorry to hear you may be thinning out your Medievals, since that's all I collect. I may be interested in a few of your earlier discontinued Crusader figures.

George
