Gentlemen:

I know, I know.............But, even back in 2001 - when I was buying my Revolution and Napoleonic figures - I really like that Lee Tank. Always kinda kicked myself for not getting one then. So - what the **** I have the WWII fever - I thought - lets get him :D

I really am trying to stay away from the retired figures - but, the Sands of the Sahara are calling for US TROOPS to fight Rommel  - it all started with the Palm Trees I tell you............its those Palm Trees........is it hot in here?.....the WWII fever is getting to me........help!.......

Ron

I put a curse on you for out bidding me on this DD24, but you being a forum member it's just a mild short lived curse.
Now you have buy youself a copy of Sahara the one with Boggie and this tank. I hope you enjoy it. The DD24 was one of the first K&C items I ever bought. Tanks tend to grow on you and take up all the space you have. I love the odd ones.

I agree - the TANKS are incredible. I am really drawn towards them. But, unfortunately for me (not for Andy ;) ) I am starting to say to myself - well the BB series just started if you jump in now and buy all the American and Germans........oh no

Must find more clients. Must find more clients.

Chuck how are you feeling ? Great to hear from you. Sorry about the LEE TANK - I had always kicked myself for not buying one back when I first started this insanity in 2000 - but, now I have got him. :D

Take care, Ron

I repeat an earlier question on another thread. Why, Why, is there no Jackson Tank???????

Its official - I am now a WWII Collector.

I have bought Infantry Sets to go with my Sherman Tank. The end is near  My financial well being is finished ! :D

Its soooooooooooo addictive isn't it!

Simple solution Ron, don't watch WWII movies. Isn't there a good Waterloo movie. I kind of like War and Piece to but can't really remember a real good movie about you know who. Or better yet Gettysburg, Of Gods and Generals, Ken Burn's Civil War. The only movie about Shiloh had James Caan in it but it pretty much stunk!!!!! I wish Ted Turner would do one on Shiloh how cool would that be.

It seems that the Eastern theatre gets much of the historical ACW ink. But, having said that, I believe it was the Western theatre that doomed the Confederacy ,for while the mighty armies of the East got into their continual bloodbaths ,they all tended to end in strategic, territorial stalemate, while in the West, the confederates were steadily beaten backward. It is amazing how little folks know about Shiloh, Chickamauga, Franklin...etc. Michael

There is a movie called Waterloo that was made in 1970 and I'd recommend you get the DVD as it's a terrific movie with thousands of extras and good old fashioned stunts not CGI special effects: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066549/

The western theater confederate commanders had a dig in and wait mentality. Except Johnston who got killed when he did come out and fight. It's all well and good to dig in and wait when help is coming but when your it, there is no help. Grant was patient and just lay seige to the Rebel strongholds. The Confedrates had three choices surrender, (Vicksburg) withdraw ( Corinth, Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain . Keenasaw mtn etc
or fight ( Shiloh, Chickamoga, Knoxville, Stones River, which achieved mixed results. To few men in the West led to the destruction of the Confederacy, another army would not have allowed Union forces the time for slow methodical advances. The last place a seigeing army wants to be is between a fortified position and a mobile army. Classic hammer and anvil not a good place to be.

I can't remember if I've seen this movie. Maybe it will jog my memory if you can remind me of the last bits of the movie. Is it the one where Napoleon led the gallant French forces to victory? :D

Ron,

It may be the wrong region. A lot of what doesn't plays on your regular DVD player will do so on the computer.

According to warshows.com, http://www.warshows.com/Detail.bok?no=1128, this movie is in VHS and trust me this guy knows war movies. You might want to talk to him.
