JJDESIGNS NEWS UPDATE 12[SUP]th[/SUP] APRIL 2021

First of all, these Monday News Updates have been fun to do!
As everybody knows the last year has been extremely challenging, and I hope these Monday previews have helped most of you get through the last 14 months or so.
I’ve decided today will be the last one.
Normal service will be resumed, with the May releases to be announced sometime next week….or the week after

Many thanks to everyone who posted the news updates on their newsletters, forums etc,
and a special thanks to Mike Estelle for keeping everyone informed on the JJD Collector’s Facebook Group, and for managing this years Caption Contest and December “Advent Calendar”.

It’s been an extremely difficult, challenging period.
Keeping everyone informed and enthusiastic, maintaining a monthly release schedule, and dealing with the many behind the scenes factory issues,…. by what is basically a small company of 3 people
I have to thank EVERYONE, for their hard work and support over the last year.

As everyone should be aware we have had problems with the website.
The NEW jjD Website, is still under development, but I hope it will be up and running in the next few weeks.
Many thanks to Vanessa and Chris for all their help and hard work in developing the new website.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

THE JJD KING TIGER.

1A-M.jpg

This item was previewed at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show “Treasure Hunt” in 2019.

In January 2020, after completing both the production of both the Roman and Carthaginian Warships, I started production on 2 paint versions of the King Tiger.
The JJD KING TIGER is a 300pcs model that is expensive and time consuming to produce.

In March 2020 due to the Covoid-19 Virus in China, all the factories were delayed in restarting.
At the same time the “Lockdowns” began to take place around the world.
Shops were forced to close, and dealers told me they didn’t expect to order anything until further notice.
Flights were cancelled and shipping out of Hong Kong became a major challenge.

I felt the sensible thing to do was to halt production of the King Tigers, until the situation improved.

It’s been over a year.
I feel that the situation has improved enough to consider starting production once again.

There will be an official announcement made next week, along with the MAY 2021 NEW RELEASES.
Many thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding.

AZTEC TEMPLES

The Aztec Temples have been another victim of the Covid situation, and the delay has been due to the uncertainty and continually changing situation regarding the postal services from Hong Kong.

I will finally make these pieces available in the next few months 2021, but only through jjDesigns.

That King Tiger looks like a beast. And highly anticipated. Can't wait to see the final versions. Imagine Hector of Troy hitching a ride - wait I'm getting ahead of schedule.

September can't come soon enough. I've run out of space in my cabinets to display my collection, but I think a new cabinet is in order to display this series.

that Aztec temple weighs over 13 lbs...
gonna need to buy a bigger table...lol...

Thanks for the update, look forward to many of the new releases, no news here but am looking forward to the Roman Carriage.

Sad to learn the Monday News Updates are ending, for me they have been one of the highlights in this somewhat depressing timeperiod!

Thank you Steve. It's very much a pleasure and fun for me to be able to assist John.

Thanks for the updates. The Wellington in India series is one that I will be waiting for big time! The British Indian Army has up moved alongside my traditional areas of interest, I may also have temptation problems with that Königstiger. WW2 is well outside the time zones I buy/collect/paint etc but this model looks ace.

Thanks for getting the info. out to us and good luck with the production runs and deliveries.

Awaiting notification to go for my 2nd jab or in the local idiom jag. Stay Safe!

Blackbob.

I agree and would also like to add my thanks, these updates are always good and really nice to be kept upto date on future releases.

Lots to consider here, JJD is the best. Thank you kindly for all the previous updates, a constant source of inspiration. Robin.

Like many on here I have looked forward to the Monday updates and I will miss them. John and his small band have been amazing during a tough 12 months but despite all the obstacles the superb figures and scenic items kept coming. I have a cabinet full to the brim just containing figures over this period of time. There is so much to look forward to over the coming months with new additions to the El Cid, 1066, Punic Wars and Aztec ranges. The Aztec temple, keel boat and Wellington in India figures look awesome and then there is the Trojan War series to look out for. You feel like a kid in a candy store.

Thanks John and here's to another wonderful 12 months of releases.

As I commented on your JJD Collectors FB group post, nicely said. I am sure that many collectors here share your sentiment.

Wow the size of that Keel boat is only just going to fit the wharf area planned for it. That’s a substantial boat, bring it on John. One spot left to accommodate the temple fortunately in the man cave. The KT is a problem for space yet to be solved, yikes. Robin.

I've dabbled in his British Great War and collected some of the regiments from the Saratoga series, but I'm also really looking forward to JJD returning to the Napoleonic era.

Brendan

Great stuff on the horizon! Thanks to all for the strength and determination to keep things afloat and spirits up. You've done a wonderful job and victory is at hand.
