Here is a price puzzle. The K&C Tiger is GBP 215. An FL AFV is GBP 260. But the Figarti JS-2 is only GBP 145 ???? These prices include VAT

In real money :D that would be $215 vs $300 vs $189 These prices do not include taxes.

The retail price of the new Tiger, seems on the surface to be in line with new releases from other manufacturers,a photo posted on this forum of a Figarti Flakveirling, priced @£216.99,did not attract as much hostility as the new K&C tiger ,only praise, therefore iam somewhat surprised at the hostility. It is often cited on the forum that this hobby is an expensive one to be in,so therefore we all knew before April 1 our financial burden would not improve any.It seems the trend of chasing down retired pieces for big money in the second hand market has been identified by astute manufacturers as an opportunity to increase their retail expectations for new releases since collectors have contiually shown their willingness to buy their older products way above their original retail price and therefore the manufacturers consider this trend to be largely sustainable in the short term and adopt a price point in line with the present trend. It is perhaps worthy to mention that it is collectors in this hobby that create the trend not manufacturers,if some collectors feel they are being continually marginalised by price increases then the blame lies within the hobby itself, demand and competition are bywords in the hobby but they also drive prices up too. ken

I think the comment that the poses for K&C figures lately is stale and boring is unfair and unjustified. The marching, guarding and at ease types are very useful in a wide variety of situations and many people buy multiples of these. They are a staple of the toy soldier world and I'm sure K&C knows that and they sell well. I also know that K&C poses/sculpts have many creative and unusual pieces that aren't "boring" to keep things interesting. With the prolific rate of releases and multiple lines its only a matter of time before everybodies itch is scratched. ;)
As for prices, well I'm not sympathetic to any manufacturer! I'm a consumer/collector and therefore its in my best interest to have lower prices yet demand greater quality, however unrealistic that may be. :) I know Andy is an artist, genius, businessman, likable etc but we're talking about my hard earned cash. I really think all the various manufacturers charge way too much for their little gems. Despite their making it difficult for me I do want them and therefore I'll suck it up and buy.........however I don't have to like it! From a manufacturing point of view, generally higher prices and more competition lead to fewer sales but its what happens to profit margins that really counts and that none of us know because that is private information of the manufacturers.

Also being a huge K&C WW2 collecter I could not have said it better!
My sentiments exactly.
Gary

Agree with the above and second the motion. Is there something missing in current releases? Hoped for some exciting figures for Market Garden, but i guess the Jeep will suffice.
May looks better

ken, from my humble point of view, though the price of the Figarti Flakveirling is quite prohibitive (to me at least) i can fully understand the price of the workmanship and detail incorporated (though i hope for their sake, their quality control is now resolved). given the choice between the 2, though traditionally a K&C collector, and as big as a panzer nut that i am, i will personally go for the Figarti Flakveirling.
some members mentioned before that K&C is now victim of its own success, as it now have to compete with some companies producing products resembling military minatures, and i tend to agree with this viewpoint.

I for one would love to see a K&C Tiger for around $150US......but thats not going to happen.

If some of you think $200US is expensive, try exchanging that into NZ dollars and then add postage......then you'll really know what expensive is!!

The point is, I except K&C prices because thats the way it is.....as several of you have already mentioned, no one is forcing you to buy....its all about choice.

I truly struggle to afford to buy K&C products, as I'm sure plenty of you fellow collectors do too. :(

I accept that I'll probably never be able to afford any of K&C big ticket items, like the Tiger, but hey thats part of what the hobbie's about....isn't it?

Wouldn't it be boring if you could afford to buy the entire K&C range?

Very true,a big part of collecting is the choosing,if I won the lottery a lot of the fun would go out of it.

Taking into account exchange rates and other factors, Yes, it is a bit of a puzzle isn't it! A similar topic of conversation was held between some of us in the bar at the London show, never did get a sensible outcome!

I wasn't trying to compare UK vs US prices but just that the JS-2 was relatively cheap with a single 1/2 figure. Add another figure at $30 and it would be about the price of the K&C Tiger. But the Figarti Sd.Kfz7/1 Flakvierling with 3 crew and a trailer is $259.

Prices can vary a lot even with one manufacturer depending on the detail and number of figures. And the ratio of prices between the 3 models in the UK is not the same as the ratio between the retail prices in the US.

Gents,

I've always been fascinated by the tank battles on the Eastern Front ( an area not usually seen in the Toy Soldier world) and so I think for me the Tiger tank is one that I will certainly be buying along with the Firefly. I wonder if further models will accompany the Kursk Tiger, especially the odd Russian bit of armour.

Not so keen on the German figures, I'm more of a tanker (and planes)especially with the various Sudan and Zulu war stuff I need to collect.

Sorry, taste for new Russian armour comes from my new Figarti JS-2.

Wraith, Sorry but Otto and his sub are not going to be bought. I'm going to avoid him at the June show.

Andy

Just because I say "I need" doesn't mean I'm addicted.

Of course you are now.
You don't 'need' to get the sub, Otto, and his merry men.
You are not addicted.
You do not have a toy soldier purchasing problem.

There, that's me convinced. ;)

WSS154 shows OPPELN BRONIKOWSKI in an SS tankers uniform,he was not in the SS he was a GENERALMAJOR in the HEER PANZERWAFFE,attached photo confirms ,ken
