No doubting, that for me K&C do the best figures on the market HB did the best AFV's but, we are getting to a point where rare stuff is now not that different to new relesed stuff in price in fact I have purchased loder stuff cheaper than new and, we are getting out of control and, NMA, Tommy gunn et al show that quality can be achieved without such prices and, having bought the HB tiger it cost me less than the new release K&C version.

I thought the HB Tiger was close to $300? The new K&C Tiger is $215. Sounds like you got an exceptional deal on the HB Tiger.

Hey Panzeraces,I fully agree with you that prices are an issue,I'm not wealthy enough to pretend otherwise.I do agree with you re TG,they are producing some superb figures at a great price.

Apologies if I ever said 'don't rock the boat',I don't ever recall saying it but I take your word for it .Over the years I have asked Andy to make many things some of which have appeared and some have not,I guess perhaps if something comes out that is a little more expensive than I'd like,I don't say anything as it may appear that after asking for something I'm not prepared to lay out for it when it is.The Firefly is a good example of this,I've been asking Andy for some time for this,and he has made a cracking looking version so I want to back up my requests with the cash.

Now if I could just persuade him to make more Brit Commandos

I paid £45.00 for my Dragon 1/35 armour & it got miles better detail than the latest K&C one & look how much that one cost

At the risk of annoying people on both side of this issue I do agree that some of the poses, in general, could use a little variation on occasion although these seem fine to me.

On the question of the cost of the Tiger and why can't K & C make it at the same price point as HB or TG, here are my views. K & C is a business and like any business must operate at a certain profit margin or there may be no K & C. Could they operate at lower margins? I suppose they could but businesses are in the habit of making money for their owners so the owners and employees can make a nice living. HB no longer makes tanks because they were losing money on them, not to mention that the prices they charged then would have had to go up for them to be profitable. Regarding Gunn, they do make a nice product but we don't know at what margins they operate so it's a little bit like apples and oranges, not to mention they can keep costs low because they don't make much product.

The foregoing need to be taken into account when discussing the price of the Tiger. This discussion reminds me of the one regarding ebay prices. Some can afford to pay the prices for retired items and some can't. Similarly, there will be those who can and those who can't afford this Tiger. I don't want to pay the price for this item but if I want it, that is what I will have to pay, otherwise I can pass. The question for K & C is what the correct price; if it's too high sales will suffer and when other companies are charging similar prices I don't think sales will suffer.

Excellent post Brad,unless we know the inner workings of K&C we may not be able to understand the reasons beind the prices.

As for Dragon model Tanks and having seen many of them,my opinion only of course,but they are not in the same league as K&C or Figarti,inferior product and thus a cheaper price tag.

There is something else as well.I know a lot of people don't like hearing this but its the truth,we all have to make choices and nobody is being forced to buy anything.In life we have to consider what we want to pay for any product,Car,TV,Holiday etc,and if we can't afford it we don't buy it.I'd love a Ferrari,but its not going to happen,so I just have to accept it.Its a fact of life that some people will be able to afford the Tiger and some will not,its just the way it is,K&C or any other company cannot realistically be expected to produce products that every single collector can afford every single time,thats life I'm afraid.If it wasn't I'd have all the Figarti shock and awe items

I am thinking the "Arab Revolt" with Lawrence is on the horizon.

Camels, cavalry and Bedouins attacking their Turkish foes.
Perhaps a wrecked railroad car for Lawrence and his tribes to ambush.

I think it would be a big seller.

As for TGM, I don't think they can be compared to K&C Tiger on price. They make very good figures at very good prices, but like HB which stopped making AFVs, they make only figures. I have to believe the cost of making just figures and the sales risks are much lower than for a company making figures and AFVs, and that profit margins are much higher on figures than on AFVs.

After reading all these post,s there is still one thing i dont understand,and i know nothing about making a 1/30 scale AFV how come one AFV cost so much and another cost more not having a go just asking a question is that the Tiger ($215) will be bigger so more material to make it than the firefly($159) or just will sell better so put the price up to cover slower selling items.In my trade thats how we survive (Butcher) and alot of other companys would to i imagine.

It is bigger, but there may be an element of higher price for a more popular AFV - but I don't think anyone is going to tell us. Basically it is what it is and buying is an individual decision based on a great many factors.
