As we go marching through . . . South Carolina 😉 (1 Viewer)

Re: As we go marching through . . . South Carolina

Awesome set ups Mike. As the others have said, everything works and blends in so well. Can't wait to see what you do with the Bull Run series. Sounds like you have some great scenes planned.

Thank you very much Mark. Starting to gather more of the H&A Scenic to Go squares. Found and ordered 5 more today. Once I receive them I'll have enough to make a 3'x3' square.

Nice series Mike. How do you think the mounted fig matches size wise with WB? Chris

Thanks Chris. Here are some photos showing the size comparison of two mounted officers (JJD on left, WB on right). The officer figures themselves are pretty much an equal match size wise. The WB base is a bit thicker and the WB horse is a bit larger. All an all though, I feel they work well together.

😀 Mike

The Washington Artillery of New Orleans consisted of 13 various guns which were all placed at various fords along Bull Run. They were not engaged at the action along the Sudley-Manassas Road which I am planning.

Just to follow up; John Hennessy states in his book ''The First Battle of Manassas, An End To Innocence'', - that as Jackson was forming his five regiments into a line of battle on Henry Hill, Beauregard & Johnston arrived with 13 guns they collected during their ride from Mitchell's Ford. Five of these were of the Washington Artillery, and Jackson placed those five pieces on the left of his line. - This places them to the left of the 33rd Virginia and directly involved with engaging the 11th NY & 1st Minn.

I stand corrected. Did not have that info in my memory bank. Thank you. This bit of information could be very useful to me. Now let's hope that John makes some artillery pieces with crews. I am proof that you are never too old to learn.

Mike, If you can find this book, you will probably find it very helpful in your upcoming project.

' The First Battle of Manassas, An End To Innocence July 18-21, 1861.'
by John Hennessy, - The Virginia Civil War Battles and Leaders Series.

I bought this edition at the battlefield a couple of decades ago, but I believe it has been republished rather recently in softcover. - Ken

Thanks for the book title. I would also like to get the book, "The Maps of First Bull Run" by Bradley M. Gottfried. I have his Maps of Gettysburg book which is a terrific resource for the hour by hour, day by day troop movement. Literally a diorama makers dream reference.
Mike

Yes, I have the Gettysburg one also, but didn't know of the Bull Run book.

Really starting to look forward to the upcoming ACW releases. Looks like they will be coming on strong just as some of the current ancient lines start to wrap up...... That will be good for the budget.

Very rainy morning here in South Central Wisconsin. Good time to give my collection a little bit of attention. Received some Hudson & Allen "Scenics To Go" diorama bases last week and this is my first chance to use them. Pictured here is some of my JJD 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment marching "through South Carolina" 😉

😀 Mike

I just went on the WB site and those scenics to go look very, very nice. I may have to order a couple. Here’s a link for anyone interested, https://www.wbritain.com/product-st...Page=12&sortBy=default&brandAlias=none&page=1

Those scenic bases and landscapes really look good.
