Not dioramas, just a display.
There's a mixture of Japanese miniature figurines and Chinese accessories - which make it - Asian Stuff.

Harry

As can be seen, the new 1st Legion Samurai figures are a tad larger than East of India’s ranges. But there's not much in it and I honestly think they work well together. Time will tell, as 1st Legion develop their range and I collect them, along with more of EoI's excellent miniature figurines as well.
The K&C Imperial Collection figures are noticably larger than both EoI and 1st Legion's figures.
The flamingo’s are just my little whim.

Nice way for me to enjoy my first cup of coffee this AM Harry viewing your Asian Stuff. Thanks for sharing your new additions to your collection....The Lt.

Harry, what a set up! :eek::) Those figures are really, really nice (under statement here) and I think you should be allowed a little whim now and again :D

Yeah, as you know, I can be somewhat more than whimsical on occasion Jeff.
Thanks for the comments. Both company's Samurai are fantastic figures and to be honest I've no clear preference, as they each have their own merits.
Getting a wee bit frustrated with the photo quality though and it gets dark around 17:00 at this time of year, so it's tomorrow before I can even think of taking better snaps. Might be an idea to roll out of bed before the clock tells me it's the afternoon, of course.....
:eek: :p :p

It's 21:30-ish.
My excuse for missing the morning is; We got home from Beijing around 22:00 last night and so I was up until something like 04:00 this morning unpacking the loot and setting it up.
:eek::eek: :D:D
Gonna have to scoot in around 10 minutes from now though. Have new DVD of "The Far Pavillions" to watch with the Spousal Unit.

Harry

very very nice figures..a few union cavalry figures charging and you could do a 'last samuri' scene :)

That's a cracking idea from RH-I am quite willing to lend you a few of my boys in blue-got one that looks the spit of Billy Connolly as well.

Superb figures old son-How does it feel to be the only person in the whole world (at the moment) who has these in their stash:D

Why, just you send them on over by airmail ASAP Bobby Reb and I'll get them set up just as soon as I get some EoI and 1st Legion Samurai cavalry.
Uuuummmm.....'member to send a return address that can be read by a Chinese "Postman Pat".
;) :)

Makes me feel like an 'Ol Hound Dawg with two tails to wag Reb.

Here's a return to an old favourite of mine;

And I really like these new ones; Kinda mean and moody – bit like me…..

Better get back to the movie - not "The Far Pavillions" - I was instructed that we're watching "The Patriot" on HBO instead. Maybe the Brit's will win this time.

Now, I reckon the older EoI sculpts (2000 maybe?) hold up well compared to the brand new 1st Legion figures - but that's just me.

Just as an aside for Jeff and Yvonne, MPLLB went out yesterday morning while I was in the Land of Nod - and humped this thing home all on her own from the framing shop.....!!!!
The thing weighs a ton and I'd have been all day reinforcing that back wall if I'd tried to hang it up. Perfect solution, plant it on top of two bookcases - works for me.

IMG_1095.jpg

Just to give an idea of the size of the thing, that's a K&C Chi-Hai tank that it dwarfs. Oh, and Mrs H also has some gloss figures, but they're a wee tad larger than 1/30-scale;

Harry, that is a size! :eek: probably safer on top of the bookcases than hanging on a wall. The figures themselves match quite nicely I think.

You're telling me it is, I almost had a hernia lifting the thing up onto the bookcases - AND she took it home on a bus.....!!! (?).
Aye, the figures are quite bonny. I can't think of a use for them, statues or Chinese Godesses maybe, but she likes them anyway.

Sorry Harry, I meant the EOI & FL figures :eek:

Jeff

Those new figures are really great, Harry! They are practically connoisseur figures, for the quality of the paint.

Really getting the bug for the Orient now.....

Eeeerm, ummmm, I thought you were referring to Madame's new line of giant glossy figures. Glad they're not made of metal, otherwise those bookcases would've collapsed - like I almost did when she took that painting back from the frame shop.
:eek::eek: :eek::eek:

PS. That's the one I mentioned that we recently picked up in Bangkok's Chinatown for a song. The framing cost more than the picture did...!!!

Yeah, I'd been considering the EoI figures for over a year now. I'd decided to go for them anyway and had already been in touch with Ken Clarke months ago arranging how I'd pick them up in Hong Kong - and then 1st Legion announced their Samurai range, so I was straight on the phone to Matt ordering them up as well. And that order overlapped with a previously planned visit to the Brit Consulate in Beijing, so the timing of 1st Legion's Sam release couldn't have been better.
To say I'm pleased with both manufacturers products is a fair bit of an understatement - I'm happy as a Munchkin...!!!

Harry
