These 13 new sets are shipping with the balance of the 2017 club figures. The figures in this photo are the approved production samples that arrived here last week. We apologize to the few club members that did not receive their club selections yet, but they will be shipped to you very soon. The initial shipment of Collectors Club figures filled all but a very few orders.

Probably because they expect to reach more collectors worldwide on FB than on this forum. IMO First Legion also posts more on FB than in Forums. Jenkins does not post at all to my knowledge other than a prepared listing of new products monthly. Of the large manufacturers, i think only Andy is personally active on a near daily basis

Probably true but why not take advantage of all mediums. To not do so is shortsighted.

Wholeheartedly agree, I find it incredulous how much personal information is shared and transferred on facebook. I try to keep that part of my online footprint to a small one.

I try to avoid it as much as possible but we naysayers are probably a minority.

Treefrog has a total of 3,472 members. WB facebook has 1,776 followers. I would hazard a guess that the WB followers on TF are at best a couple of hundred. It is easy to post pics and news on Facebook, maybe they don't have time for all media platforms?

There are a lot of tools out there (many of them free/free-mium) that help you manage many channels. Just not really an excuse these days to focus on a small number if you are a manufacturer.

As far as Facebook, I have never had an account, and have no intention of starting one.

About five years ago, I contacted a manufacturer and encouraged him to visit a collectors' forum that I frequented. In suggesting the visit, I pointed out that there was considerable interest in the company's product among the group's membership. It seemed to me that the gentleman's concern would benefit from expanding our understanding of his work. It was with considerable dismay, then, when the invitation was turned down flat!

I didn't keep the email, but the gist of the response was that forums were a waste of time, a distraction from the considerable effort involved in developing new sets for manufacture and sale. Apart from the rejection, the ensuing exchange of messages was quite cordial and informative. While some of my questions went unanswered, it was explained that those were ones that strayed into trade-secret territory (my words), production-runs, materials, methods and the like. Good enough, I thought, as at least I understood where the fellow was coming from.

In reading this, I'd encourage the membership not to take this post as an attempt to let yet another maker, WB, off the hook. Rather, my comments simply suggest a business where existing manufacturers exhibit dramatically different approaches to everything from release schedules to promotional efforts. As to who's got it all right (or wrong), that's a story that'll need telling by another author.

Still easier to post to facebook and facebook is known worldwide. Facebook does have it's flaws but those who do not have an account are missing out on so much. There are some great groups, pages and businesses for a whole host of subjects and hobbies.

I also think WB believes that its primary vehicle for communication with its customers is "The Standard" which might just be the largest toy soldier publication in the world. I do not think they count free brochures and catalogs in the same category.

The younger generations have already moved on from FB. Technology moves fast.

Facebook is not benign; it’s not there so you can share this and that with friends”. It’s out there to exploit and manipulate your data. The Cambridge Analytics showed this. The head of WhatsApp, which FB purchased, resigned from the FB Board because of privacy concerns. They simply cannot be trusted. They are the least trustworthy of the Big 4.

To a certain extent, FB is passé. People are using apps where data is not collected or apps like Snapchat.
