Saw the preview last night and I would call it a "trip"! Although a "bladder busting" 190 minutes long the visuals
and aliens/creatures are mind boggling. Suitable for children probably ten and up but not if they have ADD because
its a long journey. I think I liked the first Avatar more but this one is a close second. If you want to escape for three
hours into an imaginary world of color, graphics and creativity just make sure you don't drink too much before going.
Not for every taste but sci-fi and technos will love it.

A must see for me, released in local cinemas a few days ago, I'll most likely watch it with my fellow nerdy kids when they visit over the Xmas break.

Also I must see for me. I loved the first Avatar so much I have the two 2-foot tall Tonner Dolls of the Jake and Natiri on display in the Figarti Room. I waited, what, 10-years for this sequel, but have to wait a few more days to see it with my son!{sm4}

FIGARTI room Louis.....please start a new post and share in the new year mate.

Not normally a sci fi fan but went to see it.

Liked it better than the first one. Basically those nasty guys trying to hunt down the hero who flees with his family to the islands of the sea people.

The underwater filming is incredible and worthy of a bunch of technical Oscars. How they do the swimming scenes is beyond me. The sea people are clearly descendents of Kiwis based on their tattoos and tongue sticking out. The two "whale" hunters actors are a Kiwi and an Aussie.

I wanna get me one of those flying eel creatures for next time I go to the beach! Better than an Uber.

Definitely one to see in the cinema.

Both sons and their girlfriends came up from Brisbane on Tuesday to stay for the week, don't see them very often so is a treat for me. We usually do the usual tourist trips around the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland where I live. However my car was overdue for some new rear shocks, dropped the car into the cheapest quote which was a Mycar outlet, previously Kmart. Hey they do a good job and way cheaper than the local Mitsubishi car dealership. Anyway, the car place is next to a large shopping centre that has a new Cinema complex.

The Cinema extension was completed several years but never been in it until yesterday due to past Covid restrictions and home streaming options etc. The new Cinema was pretty fancy with a cafe, bar etc. We selected the 3D vmax option as it fitted best with car pickup time as movie is long. Tickets discounted from $30 to $25 each with my old Cinebuzz card, but still some price shock for me. So long since I've seen a 3D movie I was surprised the glasses didn't have blue and red lenses ha ha, just looked like regular sunnies. The Screen was Huge as were the leather like Seats. Youngest son and his girlfriend had several alcoholic drinks, she doesn't enjoy sci fi so the alcohol dulled the boredom effect for her. Still not something I can understand being a long term fantasy/sci fi fan myself. I'm still a little critical of day drinking as I call it, but it's Summer and Holiday time, so maybe I'm too judgy.

As for the movie, in some ways, better than the first, but both excellent films with amazing graphics. As the new movie includes a lot of younger native child characters in the plot the movie is slightly more family orientated than the first, imo, but has a lot of graphic violence, and the Whale type creatures get a rough time, so the movie is definitely not suitable for young kids.

And exciting to note the next Avatar movie is being released in Two years, with another sequel Two years later, and another Two years after that, that's a lot of Avatars.

Louis, have you seen Way of the Water yet?

Just saw it, a long film, but enjoyable. The underwater scenes in CGI are amazing. Pity I couldn’t get the time to see it in 3D, that would be better still. Robin.

I can recommend the 3D version of this film Robin. Not sure if I'll buy the movie when released on Blueray etc as no doubt it will be streaming soon enough. The $25 ticket price seemed expensive to me but then I paid nearly $17 for a frozen coke and a packet of M&M's. And they wonder why people don't go to the cinema anymore :rolleyes2:
