Just finished this for a friend who wanted a dual use diorama, one for a peaceful patol and the second for a combat scene, hence both the NVA and VN flags and 2 removable bunkers/weapons caches. The dio is 2' x 4' and will also have a helicopter and 2 M-113's added from his collection after I ship it to him, which is much larger than mine
shown here. This is the combat scenario

The dry paddy will contain a helicopter with more reinforcements, the road will have two M-113's when finished.

The spider hole on the right can hold weapons caches when uncovered, or converted into a bunker with overhead cover for the combat scenario. The pigs found running around in every village I ever saw are VC 'rations on the hoof". Every village, especially in contested areas all had bomb craters reflecting on the massive amount of ordnance dropped there during the war, eclipsing even WWII.

Outstanding Pat on both dioramas and extra points for the great depiction of ERDL camo, much better than my effort as seen on my avatar !
Again Pat Really Outstanding :salute:::salute:::salute:::salute:::salute::

Fabulous. So realistic and versatile. The is one fun dio board. Some inspiration here also. Robin.

An awesome diorama Pat, the owner will have plenty of fun with that.

Pat...
very nice...
you do great work...
extremely creative and well thought out!

Great work Pat did you make the huts ?
Your pics are fine cobber.

Great job Pat, the owner is a lucky collector; you know me, I prefer the combat version, thanks for sharing...………..

Thanks Wayne-my friend had the huts-bought them at a show.
Pat

WELL DONE PAT...I always enjoy seeing your work, especially ‘Vietnam’.
I think those huts may be the work of Scott & Sandy Schleh who used to do both the ‘Chicago’ and ‘Texas’ Shows.
Congrats once more!
All the best,
Andy.

Thanks Andy-K&C makes it easy to have a "Inspiration moment" when you keep putting out such great sets, especially with the VN series. Still waiting on your US SF series, but converting your Aussy patrols a half dozen times for client collectors makes me think...."Be careful what you wish for.....!" Still would like to see that line though someday.

I was at that battle(DaiDo) 30 May,68.Marvin the ARVN sold us out and left that entire area to MR.Charles-320th NVA Division.(No VC engaged).Never saw an Aussie that far North
during 3/68-4/69 3Mar Div.. Marines atop paddy dikes are skylined..not good..remainder CF**ed and ready made body bag fodder.(I helped 'clean up'after cessation of festivities).

Be this as it may..an interesting diorama.

Some times you just gotta go with what you have....in my case, there are no non-marine US K&C soldiers (yet) so I convert the Aussies into my Special Forces patrols and these Marines for my personal pictures and the Toy Soldier and Model Figure magazine I am doing "the making of" article for. You'll be happy to know that my client is using First Legion 1st division troops when he gets this instead of the Marines and 2 M-113's and a helicopter, which is why I built it the way I did (the chopper is landing in the dry rice paddy bottom right dropping off troops). I have the troops on the road embankment as the paddys water effects were still drying when I took the picture.....plus Marines don't like to get their feet wet........ Semper Gumby
