Just finished this for a friend who wanted a dual use diorama, one for a peaceful patol and the second for a combat scene, hence both the NVA and VN flags and 2 removable bunkers/weapons caches. The dio is 2' x 4' and will also have a helicopter and 2 M-113's added from his collection after I ship it to him, which is much larger than mine
shown here. This is the combat scenario

Marine platoon attacking a NVA held village
The dry paddy will contain a helicopter with more reinforcements, the road will have two M-113's when finished.
The spider hole on the right can hold weapons caches when uncovered, or converted into a bunker with overhead cover for the combat scenario. The pigs found running around in every village I ever saw are VC 'rations on the hoof". Every village, especially in contested areas all had bomb craters reflecting on the massive amount of ordnance dropped there during the war, eclipsing even WWII.
