This Battle of the Bulge diorama was built by my son and I on a 2' x 4' board. The K&C figures are from his growing K&C collection. Due to number of photos we are uploading in parts. You can see all and future photos on my Album titled "Battle of the Bulge".

Re: Battle of the Bulge - Part two

Additional photos for your viewing and comments. Can you spot the GI's in the woods?

Captured the Winter terrain really well. Would not fancy starting a fire fight because I had the cover of a jeep, not with a self propelled gun floating around.{sm4}, Robin.

Great dio and I love the ambush scene. The fir trees blend in very well with the backdrop trees as well.

And if that does not do the trick, if you look carefully there is a Stug lurking in the background also, no contest. {sm4}, Robin.

Brilliant mate it took me a bit to find those GI,s well done to you both great set up.
What did you use for snow?

Great work Dad! Yah we had a ball making this diorama. Our first together!

What did you use for snow?

The entire base area was first painted with a fast drying white stain covering primer prior to adding trees, foliage, stones, and debris. I then grey washed the sides of each gradient on both hills.

My son (a new Forum member) then sprayed the trees, boulders, tree debris, and hilly ground area with Snow Neige. Then we applied (sprinkled) Woodland Scenic's Soft Flake Snow SN140 over the entire scene, especially over the brown washed road, base of trees, and figures.

Hope this helps.

Very nice scene. Giving me some ideas there. Thank you for sharing your scene and method information, Mike

Great Looking setup ! You really made it look like a cold winter scene here !!! :salute::

And a few more of the same diorama... but these are from slightly earlier in its evolution... Dad added more trees, backdrop... as you can see in original shots.

But this give you an idea of how it transforms. Next time we will take photos from the beginning of our build.

Drew

Nice dio.....But with tanks painted in white, and men in white camo, it looks more like Russia than Bulge..... A group of waffen ss in russian winter to me...:p

I like the use of the fallen timber. It gives it a "just been shelled' look.

Great job.

Great seeing a father & son team enjoying themselves and sharing a wonderful Dio with the lads, look forward to seeing more of ya stuff guys, well done{bravo}}
