Hello Everyone

Please see pictures from the new series launched on Saturday at OTSN. Scheduled to start in November. No pricing available yet, so please check our site for updates.

The new series still contining the French and Indian Wars is based on the Battle on Snowshoes, March 1758. Here is a great link to details of the battle.

i wouldn't expect less from john. i'm already starting a winter diarama, anxiously awaiting the release of the figures. braddock, quebec, snowshoes, whats next?... battle of lake george, ticonderoga, who knows, but keep em coming john.... andy

I've really come to love the JJ stuff, so well animated and rich in color, However, am I the only one who is beginning to be seriously bothered by the "neanderthal" looking protruding foreheads and dark eyes? I just think it's such a strong pattern on all the figures, I'd liked to see the features softened.

the only head sculpt that keeps me looking at it is in set QB07. one of the head sculpts looks like boris karloff when he played the frankenstein monster.. all in all they don't bother me at all, thats just john's stlye.

I am also bothered by the eyes, and by something else. The Indian figures in this line (not just the Battle on Snowshoes, but figures from his other F and I War sets) remind me of Frontline Indian figures. Is there an incestuous relationship there?

The French and Indian War is my favorite period, so I welcome any new additions. But I am also a little cautious because I have had some paint chipping problems with Frontline.

They look better than ever.
Do you think there might be a sledge or two in the future?

Those Winter Indians are really great - love that Wolf Hat !!

Great new line - cant wait for the release. :D

I can't get enough of these figures. They may have to fight it out soon on a German E-boat though given my space contraints. Montcalm is shaping up to be a real stunner.

All,

Looks like I got it wrong, more FIW and this time in the snow.

I have some new photo's from John showing the sets a bit better. I will get Brad to post them.

Here are the photos. Hope I have the order right. Andrew also included the following in his email:

BATTLE ON SNOWSHOES 14th March 1758

The long winter months of the French And Indian War in North America meant that the large regular armies were inactive. The early years of the war, the French had dominated, the summer campaigns as well as the winter months. The French soldier and their Indian allies had long been used to fighting during the long winter periods. The small French patrols and raids went unchallenged, for the first few years of the war. It was not until the British army introduced a special company of Rangers under the command of Rogers that the French had any serious opposition.
It was during one of these patrols where Rogers had planned an ambush, where the Battle on Snowshoes takes place. A small group of Indians had found the tracks of Rogers’ men in the snow, and had raised the alarm at a nearby French fort. Although the Indians and French initially walked into an ambush by the Rangers, it was not long before the superior numbers of the French began to gain the upper hand.
The Rangers suffered heavy casualties and Rogers is alleged to have only managed to escape by leaping from a cliff !

Andrew

What are the production numbers for these new releases??

Ron

Andrew

The Winter - Snowshoe Figures are really great !

John keeps getting better and better !! :D

Ron

Ron,

As per Johns note he does have any details yet.

But I hope the production numbers are no larger than 500 hopefully 250 or 350.

Aussie Monty :)

I hope the production numbers are at LEAST 500. Some of these small edition numbers that sell out at the manufacturer before they are even released is are getting annoying. So far I've been able to get what I want, but fear missing out on some future sets because I might have missed an advance posting on a forum or was short on cash during the brief time these low numbers are available.

J.J.'s figures continue to increase in popularity and I think the production numbers should reflect that. Besides, at this time John's prices are extremely reasonable and I would prefer to see an increase in production no. over a price increase.

I Agree with Dragoon's posting. I am think of starting to collect JJ figures, but don't want to be caught in the position of only being allow to purchase half the series and then to find out the remaining one are sold out. The last grouping of figures sold out way too soon.

I personally think 350 is the right number - it doesnt sell out overnight - but, offers a little more "limited" than higher numbers.

Makes the sets a little bit more of a treasure to own - IMHO. :)

Yes, fish or cut bait. That is a more polite version of LBJ's take.
