Beer garden in winter (2 Viewers)

Brad, nice Beer Garden you have there and I wish that more members would post pics of their local area as it adds a personal touch to the forum as well as providing cultural and scenic interest.

What we need here is some lifesize cut outs of some of your favorite forum members;)

Hi Brad and Mike,

We seem to like the names of the larger members of the Cat family.

The popular local brew is Tiger.

There is plenty of competition from Heineken and Carlsberg (my preference).

No banning of this stuff except to minors.

Not to familiar with the US brews, but I was recommended Miller by a bartender in Philadelphia back in the early 90's.

Cheers guys, Raymond.:)

Last time I had Carlsberg Elephant was in Brussels. BIG glass!
Now I'm thirsty.
Mike

OZ,
Fabulous idea! No Beer Garden though, just swingsets, snow and cold chickens!
Mike

Thank you all, guys, for the kind words, and remember that you're all welcome to stop in, if you find yourselves in the Lehigh Valley.

Eventually, the Bierkeller will be finished, too, so we can sit inside and enjoy a Maß or a Halbe, when it's too cold outside.

Prost!
Brad

And Raymond-please bring along a six of Tiger, I've never had it, and I'd love to try it!

Brad,

Roger that.

Catching the next flight to JFK-NY.

Don't fancy a landing in the Hudson.

Shall RV with Mike at Turnpike "Zulu".

ETA your location before you can down your pint.

Cheeeeeeeers, Raymond.

I remember that kit, was that from Revell?

Ah, OK, I think I remember. That line included the Red Baron custom car, too, didn't it?

I didn't build too many car kits when I was a kid, but I used to get the Revell catalogs back then, and I remember seeing kits in the stores. Through the lens of 30 years, it's getting hazy when I try to remember which ones Monogram made, Revell made and Aurora made, especially when we remember that Monogram bought a bunch of the Aurora molds, when Aurora went out of business.

Prost!

Hi Brad,

You are absolutely right. The Red Baron custom car (which comes with a mini Fokker Triplane) is in the same series.

I could walk down memory lane too, but my lenses are even more hazy.

It is more like 40 years ago since I was building "Funny Cars". I have long since stopped and moved to 54mm figures.

My favourite wasDyno Don's Eliminator:a souped up 69 Mercury Cougar.

Best, Raymond.:)

I wish I'd saved all the Revell catalogs, and the little pamphlets Monogram included in their kits. I remember keeping them up through high school, and then I think I may have thrown them out, when I went off to college. They may still be in my parent's attic, but I haven't found them yet. Some catalogs with metal figure castings, too, plus all of the "Tips on Building Diorama" flyers by Shep Paine for Monogram.

At least all of my models from that time are still there. I retrieved my armor kits, including my first real diorama. The airplanes are all still in boxes in the crawlspace over their front porch. Someday I'll get those out of there, too.

Ah well-what kid has that kind of foresight?

Brad,

Those were the days my friend.....

Some of the best years of my life.....

At least I shall have a good go at a second teenhood......

So life goes full circle.....

Almost all my stuff is gone now.....

All my hardwork and nothing to show for it.....

I am sure as h*** not going to make the same mistake with my glossy soldier figures.

SSShhhhhhh, I have some matte figures too.

CChheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrss, Raymond.:)

Some nice memories there of the 1970's. I was into making model planes and ships. But one of my brothers was into model funny cars. He didn't have the Red Baron but he made the Beer Truck, some purple pie type van and a black hearse plus a huge Yellow funny car based on a US school bus with two in line engines, it was called the S'Cool Bus I think. But my favorite of his collection was the Yellow 'Snake' Barracuda driven by Don Prudhomme.

I don't know what happened to his funny car collection but my model planes crashed and burned on mums clothesline and the Bismark etc were "torpedoed" in dads fishpond by my air rifle. Kids just don't know how to have fun these days :D

Hello Matt,

Brad's beer garden is fast becoming a great meeting place for forum members even in the winter.

How I long for those carefree days of years gone by..... I had plenty of fun building & painting "Funny Cars".

I also built several WWII capital ships: Iowa, Missouri, Bismarck and Tirpitz (by Revell) and Hood, Nelson, Scharnhorst (by AirFix).

There were several aircraft carriers too. I can recall the very first carrier I built and it was the Lexington by Revell.

I hope that all is well with you and your wife on the homefront. Trust you are safe from the bushfires.

Cheers, Raymond.

Hi Ray, yes Brad's beer garden is becoming very cosy despite the cold ;) I had a similar ship collection as I built (from memory) Bismark, Tirpitz, Scharnhorst, Hood, Nelson, Warspite, Hotspur and Ark Royal (carrier). I also built the USN Longbeach and the last model ship I built was the USN Enterprise which was an impressive model.

I guess I built every aircraft model available at the time but my fav was the Tamiya Lancaster with the Monogram (I think) B-29 a close second as it was so freakin huge and shiny.

My wife is doing fine, she is visiting her mother until March leaving me with our two teenage boys who are cooking and cleaning for themselves and also helping around the yard. I can't say they enjoy it much, but they don't get to drive the car if they don't help out :D

I live in an urban suburb only 5 minutes from the coast so bush fires aren't a problem here.
