At the risk of adding more drama to already troubled times I'm dropping some of my usual forum anonymity and trying the problem shared is a problem halved approach.

The fact is I have had a shocking year.

Firstly I lost my job because of a work related injury, then my wife Sue had to have a series of operations and recently she was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus, which she apparently has had for some time :(

Life can be a struggle at times, especially if you are a realist like me with a glass half empty type of personality. But this has never applied to my wife as Sue has had health problems since childhood but has maintained her bubbly personality throughout. Sue has started chemo therapy and radiation treatment and this week she was able to eat solid food after four months living off liquids only.

Anyway, thanks for listening guys and I hope there are better days ahead as my Mother in Law keeps saying.

Cheers
Matt

Wow. That is a tough year mate. Very sorry to hear of your tough times. It sounds like your wife is on the mend with the solid food though. If it werent for bad times we wouldnt know what good times were. Y'all are in my prayers. Good luck.

Dear Matt

I hope things take a turn for the better soon, so you can look back on this as just another thing that you fought through together.

Sincerely

Todd

Wow Matt, I am really sorry to hear about all that.

Collectively, I think this taps so many of the issues we as human beings are being faced with around the world.

In our more developed nations, I think we kind of thought there was a wall or a fail safe or a safety net for us to help catch us as situations like yours and your wifes present themselves.

Sadly, for many, the net is getting smaller and the walls are crumbling.

Best wishes and hang tough,

Gideon.

Hi Matt,

I am very sorry to learn of the deep toubles you and your wife have encountered. So many of us, in one way or another, have been touched by serious illness. My brother-in-law, with whom I am very close, has also been fighting cancer of the esoghagus, so I know a little about the anguish you must be facing. Hang in there and know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many people, myself included.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat
