I have John,s 109 and its one of my favorite pieces so im not surprised this is of a very high standard.

So i will be over here now in the JJD section annoying people with my pics and comments..................^&grin

Now that's the ticket mate, Great War is the way to go and JJD has been doing the best stuff so far, good to see you have finally seen the light! :salute:: now get rid of all that grey ww2 German stuff, it will do you the world of good....:wink2:^&grin
Wayne.

What a contrast, not only a different war era, but RED, what next. Interesting the choice of colour by the German's would make the plane stand out like a target from ground and air alike. Very striking plane though, John does them well. Nice pick up Wayne. Robin.

I bought the first one after talking with Al now I have them all. great start you will want them all now you have started. Best WWI aircraft IMO great detail and well researched.

Robin, von Richthofen chose the color red for his aircraft exactly for the reason you state. He wanted to be easy to spot, by friend and foe, in the confusion of aerial combat. He felt there was good reason for the easy ID factor, so his men would recognize their leader, and that his enemy would know and fear who they were fighting against. He felt red was the brightest and most striking color for this purpose. The fact that he survived aerial combat for far over a year while flying such an obvious target is amazing. -- Al

Wayne, outstanding choice of aircraft to kick off your WW1 aircraft collection with. Can't do any better then the JJD Manfred von Richthofen tripe, easily the most famous and recognizable aircraft of the war. Nice photos as they show the excellent detail. -- Al

Why am I not surprised that he picked a German plane. Maybe John can repaint it a nice gray ^&grin

I fought getting into these jj wwi planes also. Put last year i was in milwaukee and stopped into see paul hermann and just about bought the blue maus albatros but instead on his reccomendation i left with my first triplane, the kempf plane. And it was a good steer. Thanks paul. Now i need to find the richtofen w/dog set to go with the red triplane i ended up buying. Great planes. I highly reccomend them.

Definitely a good call on the Kempf triplane. Still my favorite JJD tripe, with a more detailed camo job than the later tripes have. Of course, the all-red Richthofen tripe is a must have, being the most famous aircraft of WW1. All of John's aircraft are superbly done. Nice gets. -- Al

Wayne,

well done, getting into another era.....

and colourful too......

maybe I can trow out all my grey paint now ????

Mate, I think you come out with some excellent comments but this one is based on pure fantasy!!!! {sm4}

Wayne mate, nice bird and not to sound repetitive on the grey issue, but please don't get John to paint it grey!{sm4}

I've have admired JJ's WWI line for a long time from afar until I recently purchased the RED BARON's plane. I too thought the plane was lighter and smaller than expected compared to some of the K&C warbirds in my collection but the detail is spectacular. I'll likely pick up a Sopwith Camel at some point but too date I haven't seen the one piloted by SNOOPY. {sm3} I suspect more select WWI purchases in the future, so much variety and unique pieces to set the era apart from my WWII collection.

Very nice purchased of the Red Baron mate. Congratulation on your new adventure into WW1 planes.
