Hi Guys,

A few comments and answers on a few different threads…

1. “Neglected Collectors”… or lack of bands, I’m with you on this one I love bands! But these days a complete band can be a wee bit expensive which is why we produced both the 8th Army Pipes & Drums as “singles” and the LAH Band as well. There are actually a few little musician sets which are “in the works” at the moment for release later this year plus I’ve got ideas for more.

P.S. England didn’t hand over Hong Kong to China… Great Britain did.

2. K&C Life of Jesus series… Congrats Mike on your little diorama… looking good! One small point… Domes on Middle Eastern architecture… Domes have been around structures and buildings in the Middle East for many centuries long before the Muslim era was created. You can see them as far back as Ancient Egypt… Hope this helps.

3. Napoleon in Egypt… My friend John (Obee) did indeed spot the reference from which I took the figure. I have the original book which I bought in Paris a couple of years back “Dragons et Guides” by Cdt. Bucquory. As Brett pointed out the figure is a “Chef de Musiquenot a general as John suggests.

I also think this is a soldier who saw service in Egypt because in addition to the Mameluke-style pantaloons he is also carrying a Mameluke-style sword.
Anyway, glad you like the figure!

4. “Favourite K&C Dealers
I appreciate all of our dealers they work extremely hard for their money and I have had the privilege of meeting many of them in person and forming great personal friendships.

One small question to “Currahee Chris” however… Chris you say that all of our dealers do a bang-up job repping K&C “better than the actual management team”… Would you like to elaborate on that point. Either here or by PM… thanks.

And that’s the story so far… best wishes one and all,
Andy

I like the band theme as well ......how about a Royal Navy band ......and some Royal Navy figs !!!!!!!!!!^&grin^&grin

Andy,

thanks for the feedback, like you I bought that book in Paris too, in a discount bookshop for about 8.00 Eu.. BARAGIN :)

I actually said the figure was the "Chief bandsman of the Guard of General in Chief Leclerc in Saint-Domingue, 1802" I think Brett got it wrong, but anyway, his an outstanding looking and colourful figure, and I have a spot on my shelf awating his arrival in the future months.

Thanks for producting this series, its a welcome diversion from the run of the mill Napoleonic range thats out there now, so keep up the great work :)

John

On bands any thoughts on mass bands for the guards or a range of guards household cavalry lifeguards etc????? The possibilities are endless do you think this would be a popular range??
Mitch

Andy

^&confuse^&confuse Nervous in the service??

Swear to the Almighty I wish these issues between forums/ toy soldier companies etc would stand down so I - and many of the rest of us- could go about collecting this hobby like we did for so many years- It looks to me like the internet has once again destroyed something I have enjoyed before the internet ever existed.

FWIW- Have we ever met? Have I ever met with anyone for that matter from KC?? No, not at all- it was a comment made by me to compliment the professionalism I have seen displayed by all (save 1) of the dealers I have dealt with over the decade plus of collecting KC toy soldiers- I often read of the passion displayed by yourself and members of KC when at trade shows, at shop visits- etc. EVERY KING AND COUNTRY DEALER i have had the privilege of dealing with (again, save 1) has chatted my ears raw with how exceptional the product is, how wonderful the figures display and offered me numerous compliments on my collection- whenver I am in Charlie Tarboxs shop, the guy talks to me so long my legs ache so much I need to pop several aleve tablets when I leave. Additionally, they take the time to offer me opinions on the ranges and ways to display them.

If you look at your organization as a military op- you guys in HK are the brass and these guys out here selling your product are the noncoms- not sure how it is with the Royal Marines but the US Army pays it's respects to their noncoms by calling them the "backbone" of the Army- that's EXACTLY how I view your distribution network. Good, Bad or Indifferent, they are the backbone of KC.

So anyway, instead of taking my comment as a smack to your stewardship of KC, see it as me paying compliments to those people out there who are a big reason why you are where you are today.

And this is an open message to both KC and FL- till you guys do something to put this nonsense to rest between the companies, I am not spending a cent of my money on either companies offerings. I just hate how it seems like when people post on KC/FL threads or on this forum or any other, there is this underlying suspicion of who's company is being belittled. I understand that neither of you can completely control what collectors post but there do seem to be efforts made by "champions" of each company to take shots at the others- it would be nice if you guys- rather than trying to stir the pot and cast suspicion when people like me post- that you guys-personally take a stand and say knock it off.

Chris,

Well said. You are right on target.

Raymond.

Eutopian view Chris but, it aint ever gonna work. Too many people have to much invested (not financially I stress) in it to let it slide.

I don't think comments like “better than the actual management team”… will lend itself to friendly discourse. I agree that many dealers are great at promoting K&C, but unless you see Andy working the shows "better than the actual management team" seems a llittle harsh.

Hey fellas:

Please accept my sincerest apologies to all fans and collectors of King and Country and especially Andy Nielsen and the King and Country company as a whole. Admittedly, I wasn't exactly sure how to take his comment regarding my comment and will readily admit I went overboard in the response you may/may not have seen. Not sure why I seem to let myself get so caught up in this stuff as I am actually a very mild mannered person but I guess everyone has their buttons and for whatever reason, mine seem to occasionally get pushed here.

That being said, I fully accept myself as a guest here on this forum and nothing more. I am essentially in the TF House and their rules apply- either way, it has been noted to me that my comments were in violation of the code of conduct- in my opinion, a deep breach of trust by myself perpetrated on the Reuss's. For that they have my immense apologies as well and I will take the only action I believe is appropriate in those types of circumstances- removal of myself from this forum.

It's been real fellas- sorry to leave you all on such a sour note but nontheless, I do accept my faults and errors.

Best regards and see you around
CC

Chris,
Your going from one extreme to the other, your offense was not so great as to be deemed a Banishable offense. Relax, I'm sure your apology was sufficient.^&grin

My sentiments exactly Ray.
Misunderstandings happen. Stick around Chris.

Chris,

We all say things we regret later on (did I really say that?). Lord, I've made a few of my own. Stick around bro, you've been posting some interesting stuff :smile2:

Chris,

You are a stand up guy for appologizing, and I agree with Ray, Shannon and Brad that it is no big deal.

It is clear that you were just complimenting the many wonderful K&C dealers, not taking a shot at Andy and his team, and signals just got crossed. I could not have a higher opinion of the K&C dealer network, and agree they deserve all the encomiums they received on the favorite dealer thread, but believe me, Andy is justly proud of the K&C team in Hong Kong.

Andy, his brother Gordon, Helen and the rest of the K&C family do a terrific job representing K&C at just about every major Toy Soldier event worldwide. Hopefully, they will be at next year's Symposium, and you will get a chance to meet them. After a couple of single malts on my porch, you and Andy will be fast friends.

Or a couple of shots of jager to take the edge off.......................don't leave the forum Chris, you contribute too much around here to leave, you'd be sorely missed to say the least..............

I think we have a bunch of very knowledgeable people here on the forum with great ideas, information, and comradery shared. Like the old saying goes.....we all have our moments.I know I had mine not long ago with people across the pond who I never even met but one thing is sure. We are all related through our common love of the hobby ! :smile2:
