it just surprised me...
like in Game of Thrones...
Season 1...
when they executed Sean Bean...

just never thought it would happen...

the last minute miracle never appeared...

There are a lot of great male character actors in this show. Tough to see old CV go out this week. I don't care much for the female actors for some reason except for the one in the hat. Give a little FF action when Eleanor starts pouting and getting dramatic.
 
I like the Finale.................bodes well for next year! Spoiler - my least favorite pirate is no more, YEAH!

TOTAL SPOILER...

don't read this if you have not watched the Season 3 finale...

enjoyed the finale of Season 3...
tons of action...
great naval battle...
and both the beach and ambush...
lots of gory action...
glad to see Hornigold taken out...
always considered him a traitor to the "pirate cause"...

Jim Dandy to the rescue...

Blackbeard is gonna have a bigger role next season...
his repelling the English armada was somewhat anticipated after the previous episode...
of Vane's hanging...
but still good to see play out...

Billy Bones and his "black spot" ghost story was a nice touch...
after Long John squashed the face of the old quarter master with his peg leg in the previous week's episode...
I'm guessing the pirate community of Nassau will rally to the pirate cause...

this has been a good series...
the dialog and script has changed a lot...
the emphasis on the bordello and the sex scenes...
which were so prevalent in the first series...
have virtually disappeared...

Capt. Jack is a quirky character...
sort of mis-cast as he seems a timid pirate compared to Vane...Flint and Blackbeard...

really enjoy this series...
and awaiting next years Season 4...

If my memory serves me right, (sometimes when I look in the mirror, I don't know who I am), Capt. Jack was known as Calico Jack, for the clothes he wore. He sailed under Charles Vane, but when Vane decided not to attack a ship, Jack took over the crew and the ship. Also, I believe he and Anne Bonney had a child together.

I believe your memory is quite correct. Calico Jack Rackham. There was also another famous female we have not seen yet - Mary Read. One bone to pick with the show, truly minor was I wish they would have started about 25 years earlier and we would have seen Morgan, Avery and Blackbeard in his "prime"! Although, I give them credit on how they have weaved the fictional with the legends, it is really quite neat.

I believe Black Sails is centered on the Third Phase which is 1716-26.Morgan was in the Buccaneering period and died in 1688.Would like to see a movie made on Morgan and the Buccaneering period.I think Captain Blood was set around this period or was it the Sea Hawk?I do believe the Sea Hawk was set in Queen Elizabeth's time which was late 16th century.Somebody correct me if I got them backwards as it's been a long time since I saw them.Loved both by the way.

I believe you are correct, I like the entire history of piracy!!! Probably one of my favorite parts of history, too bad not more is known. Pirates were the rebels of their day.

It was announced that Black Sails will be ending after season 4.This was my 2nd favorite show following only Game of Thrones.As much as I like this I would rather see it go out on a high note rather than languish around.They have been killing off some of the main characters so I knew it was a matter of time.LOOK OUT CAPTAIN FLINT!^&grin
 
Anybody watching Season 4?? Great show, but little ticked at Ep 3, one of my favorite Seafarers meets his end, the British look quite dishonorable. Aye Matey, here is hoping for a happy ending season!
