Those figures look great on the stands you are using, very 'Oriental'

well done,
John

My friend Kenneth is now exploring more quirky themes, ie non-historical. This is his latest - a grim grinning skeleton leaning on his own tombstone with a crow perched on his shoulder.

I rearranged and cleaned up more sections. The show pieces are on the upper shelves at eye level. The incomplete pieces are at the lower shelves.a.jpga2.jpga3.jpga4.jpga5.jpg

The tudor period is more or less done. Louis XIV and Louis XV/Seven years war has been grouped into two shelves. Some overlaps are inevitable here due to the size and height of some pieces.

The Napoleonic section has been rearranged slightly.

The colonial/ACW has been grouped together. There are some overlaps with the interwar and WW1 periods.

John and Pauline came over to my place to inspect the troops. All were standing to attention and didnt dare to move. We had a great time together and shared some stories. I certainly came away with a few ideas for further exploration.

They are now traipsing all over Vietnam. Safe and enjoyable travelling!

I finally changed all the lighting in my display cabinets, substituting in T5 LED lights for the previous halogen bulbs. Much Brighter now and with potential cost savings as well.

Makes me want to redo the displays again.

Victor, what an attractive display you have. I'm currently in the process of redoing my displays, at one stage I used Two large builtin cabinets but their depth of 600 mm caused a lot of shadows at the back of the shelves, now I'm thinking about adding some led lights like yours.

A great time was had by all, thanks for the hospitality, Victor,

see you next time so can see your current projects 'in the flesh',
rather that just the images, so I can really see the 3D aspect.

They are true masterpieces 😁

I agree Victor's a true artist, I always enjoy watching his projects progressing from basic sculpts to 'masterpieces'.

Hi Matt and John,

Thx for yr gracious remarks. I steered John away from my junkyard…hahaha.

Matt,
I used mirrored paper behind my frame mats to reflect the lights within my boxes. It really brightens up the interiors. Perhaps you could consider this approach as well?

Victor, I'm still in a quandary about my display options. I currently have Four open cabinets with no doors and glass shelves in my converted single garage which is a combined hobby room, workshop area and temporary bedroom, where I sleep when my sons visit as they refuse to sleep on a sofa bed :( The Four cabinets are against a large window where the original garage roll-a-door was, the window has white plantation shutters that I can adjust for natural backlighting, and I have positioned Two spotlights aimed at the front of the cabinets. Consequently the front and back lighting provides a great display area, the only downside is the dust buildup on the glass shelves which can be annoying. I have considered converting to bookshelf displays with picture backdrops but I would loose a lot of light that way, so I'm currently pretending the dust is weathering as I'm too lazy to clean it off ;)
