K.V YOU ARE WORTHY AND LIKE THE IDEA THAT YOU STARTED A TOPIC ON PAINTING OVER AT THE HOBBY BUNKER. THOUGHT I'S ADD A FEW MORE PHOTOS OF MY 7TH CALVARY FIGURES. I'VE POSTED A NUMBER OF OTHERS OVER AT THE HOBBY BUNKER WHICH I WON'T BE POSTING HERE AND INVITING OTHER FROM THE FORUM TO LOOK IN. THE ATTACHED FIGURE IS IS FROM SQUADRON/RUBIN AND CONVERTED BY EXCHANGING HIS ARMS PUTING A PISTOL IN HIS HAND INSTEAD OF THE SHOTGUN HE WAS HOLDING ON HIS SHOULDER.

ARGHhhh would that be a patch over his eye? Shiver me timbers

I am a Custer buff and wish some current mfg. would make ready to display last stand figures..that are prototypical in gear and dress...Just a wish. Michael

I have to say, these guys still look good. I'm not familiar with these figures. Are they metal or plastic and who produces them and when were they produced?

Carlos

Carlos the figures are metal and with the exception of The Top Kick with the eye patch are by Bugle and Guidon located at the time in West Carrollton, Ohio and where copyrighted by them back in 1973. I acquired them in the early 80's. The Top kick is from Squdron/Rubin. I painted them back then but hadn't painted thier base until this past week......Joe

LT, Those bring back memories. I had one of those Bugel and Guidon kits back in the mid seventies when I was just a kid. I think I spent $7.00 for it , a lot of money when your 14!
Any idea if those are still available by another manufacturer?
I keep toying with the idea of Cavalry and Indians.
I'm going to try an image see if it werks

Morning Fubar, the last time I was at the Hobby Bunker I notice figures done by Monarch. You may want to check with Matt as to what he has available and if Monarch is still producing them. By the way what was the outcome of your War Gaming event did you beat off the Zulu. Super Battle Scene...The Lt.

If you like 7th cavalry figures, have you seen the ranges by Rosedale Figurines? They have 'The Hill', Indian Figures and 'Reno's Retreat' all available as painted or castings. THere web site is www.rosedalefigures.com

Thanks for the link, Those look fine.
I put together a fanciful RUSSIAN square this evening { bored again, see Fish , other Nations used this formation just like you said!}
and put out a few PLASTIC French cav.
Now we just need to deploy some French Horse guns to knock holes in the square!
If the table wasnt already so cluttered I would!
The cream of the Russian Guard and Grenadiers were destroyed standing in square at Borodino. They just stood there and took the fire from Massed french guns.

Thats some great stuff harold!!! Keep them coming! How many russains do you have painted up for yourself now?

Harold, your postings make me want to get down and play with my guys. You have such marvelous layouts. Again, Bravo-Zulu my friend. Great work. I love this thread. It is my favorite and the first one I check when I login.

Guys, I was just out in the disaster area that is my warroom and took some more pix. I was trying to get some decent images for the website that is at long long last getting put together.
I think I need a better camera and some better lighting. But heres a few shots I just took such as they are.
Fish, I have about 300 infantry and gunners for me the boss.12 cannons, a full battery.Plus all the other odds and ends I had collected before, some Niena and Frontline plus the plastic cav I painted. NEED CUIRASSIER , russians of course. The Tin bay figures are outstanding butn I am too frugale or cheap is probably better to buy them.
Make my own? Might as well buy the tinbay guys it'll be cheaper!
These make fun displays, a backbreaker to set up but fun. Left arm dosent work too good so using it to lean on while I set stuf up, well it just takes a long time.I really want to wargame again and using 54mm , well there isnt much manuvering which is what Napoleonic games are all about..Looking at 25mm AGAIN. Insanity is all it's cut out to be.

Wish you guys were here, you could help me stage some shots and roll a few dice along with a few spirits.
Enjoy, I'll try and do some other images.

Wish I was around to help and play I'd have a ball also know what you mean about the left arm mine seems to react the same way when setting up to shoot photos. The Battle scenes look great and they show a super effort of putting them together thanks for sharing them. By the way what have you got for a camera? Looking forward to the next patch of photos.....The Lt.

Fubar

I wish as well, I find that looking at your figure displays reminds me of the days when I used to have 25mm armies and large battlefields. Now I have a modest collection of 54mm in a display cabinet. I (and I imagine that there are others on the forum) have downloaded all the pics of your battles and have kept them for future reference and inspiration.

Many thanks again for sharing these with us.

Regards

Jeff

LT. , I have an old Sony 2.1 .It must be 6-7 years old.
My daughter has a newer Olympus.I might try some with that again. It's so SMALL. I'll have to put it on a tripod I guess. This thing is smaller than a pack og smokes and I get the shakes using it.

Yes the good old wargames days. Our group that always met here just splinttered over the years. No one left and after a few years I was doing 25mm Ancients and dark ages.Tha Nappies were gorgeous but were unused and got sold off for other miniature addictions.
I have one buddy that has been working on his 25mm Napoleonics for 3-4 years. He has French Austrians and Russians. If he ever gets it all together and we can game more than once a year I think I will do some 25mm as there are troops out there these days that are simply spectacular.

I've got HP's Photosmat R707 with 5.1 MP 24xzoom which I'm taking my pictures with. It's also the size of a pack of smokes but I'm very pleased with it. A little tough on the elbows without a tripod...The Lt.

Looking good fubar, I like the britains repainted as jagers you put on the corners of the squares. The cavalry look great also.
Digital cameras have come way down in price and you should be able to get a real nice one for around $200-$300 bucks. My camera is a sony cyber shot dsc w7, 7.2 mega pixels and I paid around $300 and it takes a great picture but you can get a real good camera for a lot less then that and still get realy great pictures.
I wanted the 7.2 mega pixel to get fine face detail and be able to blow up and crop my pictures.
You should look into a new camera I think you,ll be realy pleased with the difference in the quality of the pictures and it would be great for your ebay photos also, you,ll get munch more detail in your photos.

While waiting for an answer from Shannon I'm holding off posting photos to Creating The Drift. So thought I send along another photo of a coverted figure from Monarch's 7th Calvary. I used a HISTOREX head in the conversion and it's another figure painted in the 80's that I got around to finishing the base.......The Lt.
