Hi All,
I visited London last weekend (mainly for my wedding anniversary), however I managed to sneak off and check out some of the latest Britains' releases. My first port of call was The Guards Toy Soldier Centre near Wellington Barracks. After a very interesting chat with Lynn Kenwood, I purchased 3 of the latest British Waterloo foot guards and despite the fact they seem to cost a £ more every couple of months, they were still worth the purchase price. As a member of the Union Jack Club in Waterloo (London!),I overheard someone at the bar mention that some Britain' figures were on sale just around the corner on Lower Marsh street, this was news to me so I made a beeline for the shop and lo and behold - not 100 yards from where I was staying was a model and bookshop which indeed had a respectable amount of Britains' figures. The shop is also worth a look for it's many related books etc. It is located across the road from the famous Old Vic theatre. Coming from the North East, it made a nice change to see some of my favourite figures in "the flesh"
All in All.....not a bad Anniversary:)
Regards,
Johnboy.

Hi
Coming from the North East myself I do like a trip to London to see them in the Flesh. I was down on the 24th of July and visited the Guards Shop and pick myself up there exclusive Mahdist Flag Bearer on a camel and a Waterloo Black Watch Drummer. I was impressed with the shop ( being my first time) and my purchases making the most of my £10 off voucher from the collectors club.
Will have to visit this new store.

Hi Johnboy

Glad you had a great visit but you are mistaken about who you spoke to at the Guards Toy Soldier Centre, unfortunately my very good friend Lynn Kenwood passed away on 2nd October 2013

Hi Martyn,
Thanks for the correction and I hope I haven't upset anyone. As I hadn't met Lynn I was given a shop card with his name on it by the gentleman on duty and then made the incorrect assumption

Hi John

I'm sure you haven't as the shop sound like they are still using business cards with Lynn's name on it.

Glad you had a good visit, the shop in Lower Marsh Street must have been the Ian Allan Book and Model shop.

Cheers

Martyn
