Britains the War Along the Nile (2 Viewers)

Pictures can't do this piece justice. Some of the best sculpts and painting I've seen from Britains.

Thanks. This piece is designed not to disappoint the collector. I can't say enough about it. It's light weight, felt on the bottom, great weathering and painting..

I am in! Collecting the War along the Nile! Such wonderful figures! I'll try and post some photos later.

This a real beauty but it still does not appear at the Guards Toy Soldier Centre website. How can one pre-order it (or order it)?

I did it through the WB site, that stated I was entering into a transaction outside of the WB site.

Thanks Paulo!

The latest releases showed up tonight..great additions to the series.

This is my first posting on this forum and I hope not to make any mistakes.

F.Y.I., In my retirement as an artist craftsman I have returned to the collecting and making of small dioramas and toy forts. Inspired by the stuff that Tri-Ang and Mignot made in the past that are no longer available in the market other than as antiques. I now design and make these items for myself and a few others.

What triggered my Nile River gunboat interest was my visit to the Toy Soldier Museum in Cresco, PA early this past November to an open house where I saw the Britain's release of the Nile River gunboat. A magnificent, well made model in all that it portrayed.

A couple of the collectors said they liked the boat but would like to have plain version of the boat they could customize themselves.
I returned to my studio/shop and made three versions of the gunboat, one which was sold on E-bay and another sold to a local collector.

The proceeds from what I do on a fixed income allows me to purchase more miniature figures and accessories for my own collection. I'm not interested in the making of miniature figures, only the dioramas in which to display them. I'm fascinated with what was made in the past with available materials at hand.

What I've found so far in my searching for other artist/crafstman
such as myself is that they are becoming a rare breed !

Hi Spider Jim, good to have you aboard the Nile boat. Not easy on a fixed income when you see all these great figures that can bring the boat alive. Hope you are able to join us with photos of diorama's in the future. Cheers, Robin.

Spider Jim

Hi Spider Jim,
Welcome to this wonderful forum! I personally collect Napoleonics and some Sudan/WWI, all mostly Britains, though I would have to agree with you- I LOVE forts, fortifications, redoubts, and just about every defensive work, as well as all ships and boats. I am on the opposite end of the spectrum from you (I'm only 17), but I am just beginning to try to sell some of my homemade boats and forts, and have had a lot of success with 28mm scale so far, with a small steam launch ($50), and around 5 redoubts and redoubt sections (each $20-40). Well, welcome again, and I truly look forward to talking with you one here, as it looks like we have a lot of similar interests!
All the best,
Sandor (it's Hungarian)

P.S. Can we get some pictures of the boats?
