I did. Well, I tried. Over on the diorama how to section half a year ago. It didn't survive the moulding stage however due to a silly mistake of mine.
So the project is on a permanent hiatus.
I might give it another shot though.

Since you mentioned molding, were you trying to cast them in resin? I was thinking, I would use paper-mache for something like that, and then use scale landscaping for the grass detail, or maybe even real grass.

I made the master in a soft-staying clay. I needed to add the horizontal wires/ropes around the hut but was afraid I might screw up the master. So I decided to make a mould of alginate instead of silicon. Alginate is cheaper and would only be used once to get a cast in a very hard plaster that i could rework without risk of damage.

After that i would make a 'production' mould to pop more than a few of them.
Unfortunately I didn't use release agent on the supporting mould making the alginate stick, tearing up the mold as well as the master (soft clay remember).

The good thing is that I wasn't 100% happy with the straw structure. I do have the model but it is beaten up. I might be able to restore it and make some positive adjustments along the way.

About the resin; that could be used but I was going to use a modelling plaster to keep the costs really low so i could make a bunch, perhaps sell/trade a few.
