Britain's Zulu War (2 Viewers)

Just the Rorke's Drift set with Hospital add-on and some additional Britains,
And Trophy Chelmsford staring off into the distance.

Great dios there boys. Randy your library is interesting. The academic university presses are well represented as we would expect from a man of your erudition.

Damian

Hey, theres the new stuff, and boy does it look sweeeeeet! Thanks for more great additions to this range. :):):)

I Like the dismounted mounted police the most. And that casualty set! Sweet new additions.

Don't forget to view the new redcoat Sudan figures. The camel corps figure rocks. I hope the range will be expanded very soon.

Richard/Ken may I ask why there are already three matte sets being retired?
Two hospital sets and the trooper carrying the ammo crates are 'retiring'according to the wb site.

The gloss ox-wagon is retiring and hasn't even been released yet??

Re: Mr

Hey, at least you have playtime!!! (CSAW-Currently Stuck At Work- Mike) I think Britains has come to a new and exciting chapter vs the older 90's!

Yo Trooper, glad you think so, not my sentiments. Everything made today is for the Diorama guys. The traditional Toy Soldier is dead and buried. Its all new model soldiers.
Bernard.:(

But the new glossies are pretty traditional aren't they? There's nothing traditional about matte figures regardless the pose, so they might as well be action-packed.

I see that the figure below is no longer listed on the WB site. Retired too?:(
It is one of the clamshell figures. This is too bad since it is a stock pose for anyone building a line.

I could not agree more. The matte is for playing and the gloss is for us to collect. I don't think the traditional is dead in my house though, or yours. I was really referring to the position of Britains in the new market. Gloss on smoke-break for you, Bernard. Mike

I find that hard to believe. Even I was planning to buy multiples, but am still waiting for number 1 to arrive (to judge it properly).
It doesn't seem logical to retire army-building pieces.

Hopefully it will be re-issued since it goes well with the new kneeling figure:

I can appreciate your sentiment but as one of the DGs I cannot say I am not pleased at the trend to more realistic in battle poses, at least for some. Matt is of course more realistic as well so there you are. Hopefully both can co-exist.;)

Hello All,
Thought it might interest you to see a slightly different view of the Zulu Warrior casualty set just after I finished it. This set, just like the AWI 3rd New Jersey casualty set was really a lot of fun to sculpt.

By the way, has anyone recieved the newest Standard yet? I can't let the cat out of the bag if it hasn't hit you mailboxes yet, but there is a really unique Zulu War opportunity in it.
All the Best,
Ken

That is quite interesting and it looks like a must have piece. As a new figure collector may I ask what is the "Standard" and how do you get it? Is that the only place this opportunity will be offered?

Spitfrnd,
The Standard is the pub put out by Britains as part of the collector's club . You get it when you become a member, as well as a choice of figure, It's a must have in MO.
Query however: The new matte Natl Mounted Police sure look like Natal Carbineers in blue, rather than the accurate black, dark grey uniform of the period. What's up wit dat? Mike

Hi Mike,
The quick answer is photography. The figures are actually painted a blackish gray.
All the Best,
Ken
