Last such tour was 12 years ago and highly anticpated.

First game of 3 tonight in Brisbane. Visitors will feel at home as very cold here at the moment.

Izzy Folau (former League and AFL player) making hsi debut which will be interesting.

Would not like to predict outcome.

Brett

I have to pick up busloads of patrons after the game tonight, if the Aussies win it will a rowdy ride home if they lose it will be like a wake....'On the buses' :wink2:
Wayne.

I just heard they are going to start the game three hours early.

This is being done to prevent a world record attempt by somebody to see how many forum threads
he can start today !!!

Those WA guys are such troublemakers.

PS This is a joke. With apologies to those with no sense of humour or apologies if it is not even funny.

Great game. 23-21 to Lions. Best Rugby game watched for quite a while.

Folau scores two tries on debut and saves a certain other and gets man of the match. Australian Rugby Union going to be thinking about how much to offer him to stay in Rugby. No truth in the rumour he will be playing in the Australian Soccer team in the World Cup next year.

Injury toll on Aussie backs high and players playing out of position did not help.

Halfpenny had a great game.

All came down to the two missed kicks near the end with one being last touch of the game.

For those interested judging by my reactions during the game I was supporting Australia.

Roll on game two.

Not a fan of O'Connor so get rid of him or start him off the bench.
He isn't a team player, not great loosing our kicker in the first 20 seconds.

Wayne,
Was it a wake or did they just think it was a good game ?

I taught O'Connor in his final year at school. My one claim to fame.

at least you had a ref to compensate for all your injuries . forgot his cards ( you should have been down to 14 twice ) , didn't give the Lions a chance at the breakdown and couldn't manage a scrum all day .
Apart from that it was a great game , now if only you aussies knew where to put your head when tackling the medics wouldn't be needed .

Roll on to Melbourne next week and a series victory then we can start with the ashes and a glorious summer .

Not the greatest game I ever saw - but they were lucky to scrape home with a win, in the end.

What on earth was the ref doing all through the game???? What is happening in the breakdown - especially the rucks??? I know there are differences in interpretation - but surely not THAT different?? At least the Lions will have an opportunity now - to analyse what on earth is going on there - and what gets penalised - and what gets ignored!

Do you have yellow cards down there???

Welsh lads did well - and scored all of the points. A reasonable start - but will be looking to see they improve on that next week - as the defence requires some attention too. No significant injuries - a welcome change! jb

Well put it this way there was much chatter about the ref ( mostly unrepeatable on this forum ) but most talk was about Issy Folau, he has become the lastest hero after his two tries. The crowd was about 60% in gold and 40% in red and kilts, with a touch of Irish green here and there who by the way were the most vocal.:rolleyes2:
We park under the stadium waiting to pick up and it is amazing how much noise a record crowd of 50,000 odd can make! enough to drown out the sound of hundreds of buses with their motors running.:wink2:

We will see lads if that's the best you've got from over there your in trouble in game 2....................:wink2:
Agree bring on the ashes so we can bring them back where they belong.
Makes a nice change to have a REF that lets the game flow and no pathetic penalty's.
I do remember winning the important scrums did you miss those bits.............^&confuse

erm we beat you with a bad performing weakened team ...so if thats all we got it was still better than the clowns you fielded. I guess you will be without Horwell for the next 2 tests also as he has been cited for stamping .

where was the ref who let the game flow .... nearly every breakdown was pinged usually in favour of the aussies . Hopefully we have a northern hemisphere ref next week .

Clowns is a bit harsh MATE !!
See you here next week see how gobby you are then MATE!!
Northern Hemisphere ref and it will be a penalty fest for trivial stuff,i hope not.

I don't know a lot about Union but I watched the game with my dad who played it at school. It was an interesting contest and some of the tries were impressive. Yet at the end I found myself bemused by it all. I had no idea what a bunch of the penalties were for. It seems odd that a game can be won/lost under such arcane circumstances. I'm not quite sure why this sport gets the acclaim that it does?

Paper today saying Folau's agent stopped talking to League clubs a month ago waiting on his selection for Rugby. Appears Rugby will be financially better for him.

(England going to be happy about Australian Cricket coaching issues with coach sacked and Captain Clarke stepping down from the selection panel).
