British Guard Infantry Pre-Order (1 Viewer)

Thanks for the kind words on our figures guys. We're really glad you're enjoying them and feedback such as this makes all the hours in distant lands so worthwhile. It's shaping up to be a year of such releases from us and I'm very excited to share with you all what we have coming next!

Matt was kind enough to share this with me as long as I don't spill the beans; collectors around the world, be prepared to be blown away by what Mr Matt has up his sleeve, truly incredible works of art will be available soon.

Just incredible.

i'm also barely containing my urge to purchase some items, but as Matt said the upcoming items will be worth the wait. :D

If you're barely containing your urge to purchase some First Legion items, than I advise you to go ahead and buy!!!! :D If you're barely containing your urge to purchase some items from competitors, than I suggest you save your pennies (you'll need them!) and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. On the contrary, I'm more confident than ever that you'll open the first box and when you come to laying on the floor your wife will be standing over you patting your forehead with a damp towel with someone in the background saying "give him some air...give him some air..." as you turn your head side to side mumbling "did i drop it?...where is it? Is it safe?" :D

Ok, I'm so overtired right now that I'm obviously in that giddy mode.

well said Matt, but i'll think once the FL items that i'm waiting for are released, i think i can safely replace the 'competitors' term in your sentence with 'other manufacturers' :p

Well, I guess I accidentally started the pre-order for the British Guards last night! I was editing the catalog late last night and making changes to it and thought I had shut off the "Great Britain" category, but I apparently left it on when I went to bed and low and behold got up this morning to several orders having been placed. The reason it wasn't to be started yet is because three of the figures out of the 17 in the release have temporary placeholder images of paint masters in the catalog because I haven't taken photos of those three production figures yet. These figures are NAP0083, NAP0090, and NAP0095. I will take images on Tuesday or Wednesday for these 3 codes and that was when the pre-order was to officially begin.

However, as the other 14 figures are in fact images of the production figures, I think you get an idea of the quality of the last three figures as well. :D So, now that the pre-order has started, I'll just leave it available and will replace the images of those three figures once I have them next week.

So, without any further adieu...

I hope you guys are pleased with the figures. Personally, I couldn't be happier with how they came out and am planning a nice (big) display of them that will eventually be shown on our website.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

What a classic line from Matt back in Feb 2009 {sm4} made me laugh.....the last time someone dug up and old thread I got banned for a week and got some points for a year old post I'd made . I sure hope no one gets it this time , oops that's right Matt is stilll on moderated status {eek3} .. These guys are long long gone but thats not to say First Legion won't do more Brits some day as they are a fan favorite .................just not these .. Regards Gebhard

I too can only hope that some day, they will add some more from this line. It will be the First one I will buy, Before other ones I am interested in.

These Guard figures are the ones drew me into First Legion. In all honesty, it was the quality of the figures and not the subject, since I had never collected a Napoleonic figure before that. Even though I have moved on the AWI, I am still glad I was able to enjoy these for so long. For those that missed these early figures, don't worry. Gebhard is exactly right, FL will certainly make more Brits!

Having acquired a few of these figures recently (after a long search for them) I am noticing that some of them have chipped paint. The standard bearer for example has chipped paint on a sizeable area of the flag.
Interestingly enough a couple of multiples that I have have chipped paint in the exact same areas letting me to believe that it is a manufacturing process issue.

Don't get me wrong, I love the figures, just trying to find out if others have experienced the same issue with this "old" range!!

These are magnificent museum quality figures worthy of collecting. However, I noticed one small error.
The Guard Grenadier Companies wore all white plumes on their Belgic shakos. The Battalion Companies in the British Army wore the white over red whereas the light companies wore green cords and plumes. These figures should wear the all white plumes to be 100% accurate.

you are absolutely right.
I also like this set very much. I finally have it all, acquiring the drummer I’ve been searching for the longest. It is interesting that three or four figures have the correct pure white plumes. The solution for the rest will be repainting their plumes. In any case, paint and brushes are necessary in my case when receiving a large numbers of retired figures, partly not in original boxes, often not in perfect condition.

For the most part, I have collected a lot of this sets and they are superbly done down to the uniforms as well as the way it was sculpted. In regards to
paint chipping..a few of them are noticeable particularly on the rifle stock as well as the butt plate and heel easy fix. When it comes to the plumes, I agree a topcoat will do the work as well.
