Cafe Storme Mokarex figures (2 Viewers)

Excellent painting! Really nice brushwork, and you're cranking them out!

Thanks for sharing and have fun!

Hello Joe,

Thanks for you comments. Am I cranking them out or what? These pieces are just begging to be spruced up and painted. They make really affordable painting exercises for me. As you can see, I am experimenting with various styles of painting - tight versus loose brush strokes.
Another benefit for me is that they open up windows to unfamiliar niches of European history.

More figures being recruited for painting.

I added some putty for the groundwork.

The Napoleon figure looks a little too static. So I rearranged the head and knocked up a left arm for it.

I picked up this figure for another look. The body seems a little thin and perhaps, the thighs and boots are too long. The hat also needs some reworking.
I'll probably re-pose the figure further.
Great work on often forgotten figures of history.

Hi MikeNick,

Thx for your comment. The Mokarex figures are still available for a reasonable cost at figure shows and ebay.

I added more putty to the back of the Nap figure ( don't worry, I have two of them) and also changed the position of the boots.

I came across a stash of medieval Starlux figures in my collection. These are 60mm figures made in hard polystyrene. Looks useful for conversions...:)

I also came across this French WWI drummer and assembled the backpack to the figure.

Hi John,

great looking and sturdy figure!

I've just located another source of small round bases (Chinese chess pieces) suitable to mount all my single figures which I'll be using for all my Mokarex Café storme figures for final display.

Hi all,

I hated having to keep you in suspense but I was waiting for my order of chess pieces to come in. They have finally arrived and I spent the last few days staining and varnishing them. So here are the first batches of café Storme/Mokarex figures mounted on these bases (lots more coming). I haven't covered the bases with groundwork yet as I need to identify the figures on their bases and write down their names.:)

Why do I mount my figures on bases? I make model miniatures which should not be handled directly except by holding on to their bases. Included is the Lasset 75mm figure of a Roman musician as well as the EK castings.

I finally located the Nap figure hiding behind the can of brushes. I swear these figures have a life of their own and go off whenever they feel like it...:)

I worked more on the boots and the back of the coat.

I added buttons to the back coat, built up the left shoulder and shaped the boots which were given a coat of black for clarity.
Next up is the hat.
