Goring surveys the bomb damage to buildings in berlin after the first RAF attack. Although the damage was light goring famously said in 1939 about the ruhr and berlin that if one single bomb was dropped on these areas he could be called Meyer. Adopted rather nastily from the anti semetic films portraying meyer, a jewish person who was seen as untrustworthy amongst other things.

The troops clearing up the destruction and generals in the scene with goring are whispering self contentedly so, now can we call him Meyer????

Great idea and scene Mitch! Thanks to many other affirmatives of "Mayer" that made the Germans adopt wrong decisions and strategies the road to victory was made a little easier!

That is a unique idea for the mini-dio, really interesting. I like the look on Göring’s face for the display.
I wonder if anyone ever did call him Meyer, to his face ….. and lived to tell about it??? ---- Larry {sm2}

Duke/Larry...

Thanks. I would imagine the list of those who called him meyer to his face would be a short short list!!!

Very nice scene indeed Mitch, like the idea of the background story. I think those words of old fatso are on the nose art of a Lancaster at Duxford, just above all the notches of how many raids it had been on!

CM..

Thanks for that. I think thats why he wore the trenchmack to hide the leather chaps. He was a larger than life character on many levels for sure

Real nice work Mitch! Very original. I wonder if Goering has his nail polish on in that dio.

Rob...

Thanks for that. I think herman should have spent a bit of time looking at the book of Hosea from the old testament rather than mocking jewish individuals. Our Bomber Harris did and certainly repaid them for what they delivered over britain and europe. for they sow the wind and they reap the whirlwind!!!!

Yep he was the right man for the right job at the right time. It was not an easy job but he had a touch of the Nelson spirit about him when he declared ' the bones of every German citizen are not worth those of one British Grenadier ' now we can all argue about the ' pc ness ' of this statement, but one fact is undeniable, he had the right spirit to achieve victory in ' total War' , whatever we care to debate today.

As usual, very nice Mitch , a touch of originality and a great idea for a little dio
