Folks, I read today on TSSD's website that our friend Carlos Codina was badly hurt in an auto accident. Anyone heard of his condition, I certainly hope he's okay.
Anyone know, heard about this unfortunate accident?
Please advise at once.

No information, but I'm with you in hoping the injuries aren't too serious.

Harold,
Brad phoned me Saturday evening and informed me Carlos was injured in a pretty bad car wreck, I think he mentioned a broken ankle, arm and back injuries which will require surgery, sorry I can't be more specific, I was in a daze as he told me the details to be frank.

Brad said it could have been a lot worse, my thoughts and prayers go out to Carlos and Nancy; get well soon my friend.................

Being new to the "toy soldier world" I do not know Carlos, but having just gone through a similar experience with my father at the beginning of the year, I know what his family are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with them and I wish Carlos a safe and speedy recovery.

Dear Forum Members,

I was waiting for Carlos to OK posting the news, but since it has been posted, it is a moot issue.

My good friend Carlos (deskj11desk12) was in a very bad auto accident on March 5th. A big rig in the adjacent lane blew a tire and swerved into Carlos' lane, crushing his car against a concrete divider, and causing it to flip several times and end up upside down on the divider. He has a broken ankle, broken elbow and a compression fracture in his spine. He has had several surgeries inwhich metal rods were used to set his ankle and elbow. After several days in ICU, he has moved to a regular hospital room, but he is still facing several surgeries.

He got some good news in that he will not need surgery on his back for his compression fracture. He will be fitted for a brace that he will need to wear for 6-8 weeks. Doctors expect it to heal naturally without surgery.

I have been in contact with Carlos' wife Nancy, who says Carlos is in good spirits and regrets not being able to attend the Symposium.

The following link is the article in the Long Beach Press Telegram about the accident: http://www.presstelegram.com/news/ci_8469647

Wow,

Words just cannot express how horrific this is and what a real tragedy it is.

While I never met you Carlos, I was very impressed by your kindness and knowledgeable posts on this forum. Please accept my most heartfelt and sincerest wishes on a stable and successful recovery. My family will keep you and your family in our prayers.

If anyone is interested in "passing the hat" to collect money or what not to help him recover or defray the medical costs, feel free to PM me.

We will await your return to the forum- you can put a fighter down but you can't take him out- HANG IN THERE- WE ARE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!!

Oh my god this is shocking news. I know Carlos and he is a great guy. I hope he has a speedy recovery and that everything will be ok.

My prayers are with Carlos for a good recovery. He is a true gentleman and a hard worker taking pictures with Steven at the shows. Leadmen

Oh man, I knew Carlos would go to extremes to have some time off to be with his family, but this is too far.;)

I am very thankful that he is not more seriously hurt and that he will have a reasonable although long and more than likely painful recovery. I wish he and his family well and a quick settlement with the insurance company to cover his expenses, they will be large I am sure.

Thank you Steven for informing us as to what took place and Carlos medical status. Please pass on my good wishes for a quick and healthy recovery.....Joe

Dear Forum Members,
I am told by Nancy that she is bringing her laptop to the hospital, and that Carlos is able to see and read Treefrog posts.:)

Carlos and Nancy,

I heard about what happened on Friday and was shocked to hear it but was relieved when I heard that you were making a recovery.

Your presence here will be missed until you're able to make it back and I look forward to seeing both of you in Chicago.

If there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to ask.

Wishing for a speedy recovery,

Hello Carlos,
I want to wish you a good, complete and hopefully not too painful recovery from that accident, so you can join us here and the Hobby at all in good mood and condition.
Konrad

Carlos I hope to see you on line here with us soon. I am sorry to hear what had befallen you especially in light of having just meeting you and your family.

Carlos

I was very sorry to hear of your accident and injuries. I have been on that highway and for a New Englander it is a frightening experience with the 100s of trucks coming out of the port facilities. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers and look forward to your return to Treefrog.

Randy

Carlos,
That's tough luck on the accident and great luck that you can survive such a horrendous crash. I drove those **** L.A. freeways for 20 plus years, that's why I live in New Mexico now. Are you sure you didn't just drop a toy soldier under the seat??:):)
Get well soon, man, we're all pulling for you.
Ray

Carlos:

I hope you have a full and speedy recovery............and sue the pants off that trucking operation!

Steven was kind enough to inform us about Carlos at the Symposium. We all had a momment of silence and a toast to his speedy recovery, and the Nevilles were kind enough to leave a K&C, UK giftbag for Carlos, which we forwarded to him via Doug Luna and Steven Chong. Carlos and Nancy, know that you were in our thoughts, and were sorely missed. I wish you a speedy and full recovery, and hope to see you at next year's event.
