Centurion (2 Viewers)

Looks like Andy is telling Howard off for playing on the tank lol.

Wayne mate,
Nah, I had just told him that I have waited ten bloody years to see the mighty Centurion be released. His reply was I told you "Never say never"^&grin^&grin The four Centurions to be come part of my collection, will be 3 Troop, 1st Armd Regt that repelled the NVA & VC at the Battle of FSB Balmoral and take pride of place in my collection.
Its a pity you could not slip over here on the 20th July for our K&C Dinner. Our guest speaker is retired Colonel Adrian Roberts, RAAC who is better known as Lt. Adrian Roberts, Troop Leader 3 Troop at the Battle of Long Tan, Vietnam, 18th August, 1966.

Cheers Howard

Yeah I know mate read it the newsletter you sent will be a amazing night.

Captain Smith was the artillery spotter RNZA, 161 battery RNZA, provided artillery support for the RAR, at Long Tan, no mention of our involvement,
in Vietnam from King and Country, 31 killed, however our SAS excelled in jungle warfare.

Vincent,

this was discussed when Andy visited Australia last July. We were at that Army Tank Museum in Pukapunyal where he and Howard were looking at the M113 APC and the Centurion and Howard was pressing Andy to make one for the Aussies in Vietnam range.

Andy, being the businessman, was doing the calculations for adding these vehicles to other ranges, so a US version of the M113 for the Vietnam range, and a IDF M113 and Centurion for the 6 Day War. These vehicles would involve some minor local changes fro the basic hull and so they could come into production in the coming years.

John

Thank you, John. I appreciate the info. Indeed l was thinking about this business perspective before I posted the question. It makes sense.

Kind regards,

Vincent

As you know Andy has an amazing habit of surprising folks and pulling a rabbit out of his huge TS hat. Knowing his passion for Vietnam I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of Kiwi characters suddenly appear in this popular series in the not so distant future........:wink2:^&grin

Stop it mate, you're getting me all excited now. I know loads of artillery men who would get all hot and bothered if K&C rolled out such a set......{eek3}

I'll be sending Andy a few SHOTS about this again in July at the dinner, and will let you know the response.

It's been mentioned before, last year, and seeing the 105 Howitzer has already been made, all we need is is some 'sweaty gunners' to man it !!!

Some 'Sweaty gunners' sound like an excellent idea John. Lets hope Andy has taken the hint....:wink2:^&grin

Don't worry mate, the 'hint' has been well and truly taken!!!
ANZAC Gunners are already 'in the works'...Plus, of course a few other little surprises...
All the best and looking eagerly forward to next month 'down under'.
Andy.

Andy you're a legend mate, I know there will be many very happy ANZAC's looking forward to these future releases.

Sadly I can't make it across the ditch this year to join all me Aussie mates and you're good self, but I'm sure I'll be able to pop across in 2020.

Careful John, Howard may be tempted to move to your state. Hopefully he will have his own Centurion or three in a few weeks{sm4}, Robin.

Yeah Robin and if for what ever reason Andy doesn't come through with the Centurion, then I reckon Howard will fly to Perth, throw on a balaclava and do a midnight heist of the Centurion in John's pic! ^&grin

P.S. I wonder if Andy will make a "young" Centurion tank figure of young Howard???

Tom

Tom mate,
I do not need to go over to Perth cobber. Have plenty of the real things here in Puckapunyal Tank Museum. Came across an old photo taken in 1973 at a night shoot on the Puckapuyal Range. From left to right is Gunner, Crew Commander (yours truly at age 26), Driver and Loader/Operator. Counting the days until we see the master model of the mighty Centurion at our Melbourne Dinner on 20th July and then get my hands on four (VN065) when they are released in late August to make up a Troop Dio. It has taken 10 years but well worth the wait. USD$349 or AUD$495 is a great price for such a large Tank. One of K&C biggest Tank releases.
Cheers Howard

PS Thanks mate for helping me downsize this photo so I could upload

Who would have thought Howard, all these years on you would collecting historic miniatures of your life and times back in those uncertain days. To relive some of those, hopefully better memories in miniature, must be a thrill to say the least. Robin.
