TRIVIA---in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, Paul Freeman, who played Nazi archaeologist Dr. Rene Belloq, appears to eat a fly while arguing with Indiana Jones. Freeman explained, "Yeah, I think they just took out a couple of frames when the fly flew off, just to make the joke. I got a very nice review from Pauline Kayland [Kael] who noted what a devoted actor I was to go through it, with eating the fly and all.
So there you have it. The fly just flew away, there was no bug in the mouth but those cheeky editors took a few frames out just to give us something to talk about years later."

One of my favorite Sci-Fi movies and who can forget the Saturday Night Live parody of it? It was hysterical. Now as to what the real Soylent is made from...:wink2: -- Al

It's interesting how many of these old TV stars floated around from show to show back in the day. I just watched a couple episodes of the Untouchables. One with Jack Ward and another with Cameron Mitchell. Some shameless historical revision in that show. My favorite is the Ma Barker episode where Ma is portrayed as a machine gun firing maniac. Eliot Ness - who had absolutely no role in the Barker shootout - is portrayed spraying bullets and dodging home made grenades being hurled by the gang. The story behind Ma Barker is that J. Edgar Hoover apparently didn't want the FBI criticized for her death. So he perpetuated an enduring myth that she was the mastermind behind the gang.

TRIVIA---the original THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL was chosen by the American Film Institute to be in the Library of Congress' National Film Registry, it was rated the #5 movie in the American Film institute's "10 Top 10" movies in the sci fi genre and THE NEW YORK TIMES included it in its "The Best 1000 Movies Ever Made".
However, co-star Patricia Neal thought the sci fi movie was silly and had to stifle her laughing during filming, particularly during the scene where Klaatu (Michael Rennie) tells her to memorize, "Gort, Klaatu barada nikto".
Neal said, '"Well, I'm so sorry to tell you I thought it was hysterical. I found it so hard to keep a straight face. Michael Rennie would say things like, "Excuse me, but do you intend to lawwwfff here?" with that beautiful British accent of his and I would imitate him and say, "Noooo, I don't." I adore it now, and I'm so happy that I kept from laughing."'

I never noticed that! Though, it's been years since I've seen the movie in its entirety. But even when I first saw it, in the theater, I never noticed that. Very cool piece of trivia!

Prost!

"The Day After Tomorrow." Remembering that Emmerich directed that dreck, and that Gordon produced that dreck, has made me even less inclined to watch their new "Midway" movie.

Prost!
