As you can tell by my avatar, have always been a big fan of the Dukes of Hazzard and Boss Hogg. Recently caught a few eps, brings back some good Friday night memories, couple of faves:

A. Boss to Roscoe on the "Split" from schemes - Roscoe, figuring your end (with an adding machine), he says starting with $10K... you get 50% of 50%of 50%, take away expenses, another 50% for this, 50% for that, looks at the adding tape - "Roscoe, your share comes to 5 %, hands him the cash, then takes back another half as consulting fees" - the gist. Still funny

B. Infamous Boss Hogg in front of mud puddle in the white suit.........you know its coming - car splash

C. The Boars Nest - always a recognizable country act at the end of the show

D. Waylon Jennings - the narrator

E. Infamous line - "cash on the barrel head"

Could list many more, but honestly, even when it was dumb, it is better than 90% of what you find on tv today, it was original, good stars, wholesome and downright funny.

Give me M*A*S*H*....Hogan's Hero's, and my favorite 6 million dollar man!! Better then any trash on television today!

All in the Family, Andy Griffith, Leave it to Beaver, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Bonanza, Cheyenne, and many many more.
Mark

Green Acres, Addams Family, and Honeymooners, to name a few.

Dad’s Army and F-Troop which span the globe for best comedies. What about ‘The Untouchables’, now that conjures up some memories and of course ‘Combat’ which probably explains why I am on this forum. So many to choose from and so little time.{sm2}, Robin.

Fun thread. Thanks TD

Some favs of dad's & mine not yet mentioned:

Danger Man/Secret Agent, The Saint & The Avengers (Brit spy shows).
Columbo.
Almost every Western made before the late 60's not yet mentioned. Love Cheyenne & everything from Gunsmoke to The Lone Ranger. Not so much the Virginian or Big Valley. Otherwise can't get enough Western...

Fav Western: Too impossible to figure but an interesting topic...
Fav Family Comedy: Andy Griffith. The I Love Lucy.
Special mention to Yancy Derringer...

I'm sure I'll think of more after I ask Dad tomorrow but I'd like to see some other input first...

Best Wishes & Stay Warm (it's rough here like so many places in the US now),
Paddy for Pat Sr & Paddy

A lot of shows aren't funny when you watch them years later, but F-Troop and the Honeymooners really stood the stretch of time. I really liked the Bob Newhart show and the Odd Couple too.

Used to really enjoy some of the old British comedy shows from the 70's & 80's, Dads Army, Benny Hill show, Are You Being Served, Open All Hours, Men Behaving Badly, Faulty Towers, It Aren't Half Hot Mum, The Two Ronnies, Not the Nine O'clock News, Porridge, Dave Allen at Large, Only Fools and Horses.....

Totally UN-PC too......

Dad's army , batman 66 , ncis , the rooky , allo allo , hogans hero's , and manny more

Along with my dedication to Sgt. Saunders and Combat!, I loved the TV westerns of the 50's/60's, with Gunsmoke and Bonanza being my favorites. Funny thing is, as I have aged, Gunsmoke seems to have gotten better, especially the early B/W episodes, while Bonanza has become almost unwatchable for me. Don't know why, but Marshal Dillon, Doc, Kitty, and gang, have held up MUCH better than Ben, Adam, Hoss, and Little Joe. Maybe it is the hard edge to Gunsmoke, while Bonanza tends towards a kinder, gentler west. ^&confuse -- Al

As a kid in the Sixties as well as home grown shows, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, I fondly remember Daktari, Skippy and Flipper, The Forest Rangers, Batman, Of Western's The Virginian was a favourite. Then there are half remembered shows like, Branded and Riptide.
During the school summer holidays there seemed to be a lot of European, mostly French shows, either dubbed or Subtitled programmes for kids during the day such as The Flashing Blade, The Aeronauts and I think it was called the Crusaders. Even stuff from behind the Iron Curtain like the East German The Singing, Ringing Tree which was truely creepy !
Yeah might of been all in Black and White as we didn't have a Colour TV, but they certainly have stayed in the memory !

100% agree AL, Combat was far and away my favorite 60's TV show and Gunsmoke my favorite western ... the one-hour B/W episodes from '61 - '66 were the best of the lot with many a great guest star and excellent story lines ..... and also the episodes, when a little humor was called for, involving the interactions between Fetus (Ken Curtis) and Quint (Burt Reynolds).
