Oh my .... {sm2}{sm2}.
Well, I do keep it under control ... to a point.... and it is (now) confined to two rooms and hopefully one soon.
Still, there are times that the mail arrives and I hear .. "Not another box from <fill in a dozen sellers' names. Where are you putting these?>!!

But her Inkpad Stamps outnumber my Soliders so I am good for a while.

Mods- please delete this thread before anyone's wife or family sees it! This could really be the ruin of many of us, not to mention a negative for Treefrog's business end!

I am wondering though Larry that before that box arrives in the mail, are you twitchy or running around the house like a kid who just ate a packet of lollies!!! :rolleyes2:^&grin

Im hearing you tho and i reckon i am keeping my collecting under control..um, ok maybe not always, ok ok, maybe i do have a teeny weeny addiction..ok, i'll get some help..{eek3}

A good reply to such comments might be..............." Okay then, would you rather I spend more of my time and money down at the pub - or in the Bookies - or spend my pocket money on Toy Soldiers?"

I always say "I ordered that months ago," but that is growing old for my wife. I lost control when everyone started making planes. I may have to check out that show.
 
In my case, hiding something in plain sight worked for me once. I had gotten the Barzso Stone Fort & set it up on the floor of our parlor. A couple of months went by before my wife noticed it. When she asked me about it, I just told her that I'd had it for some time.:rolleyes2:Whew! Treefrog's consignment sales have worked wonders for me, in that I've been able to truthfully tell my wife that no money from our budget was used when I opted for store credits & got other items. Also, she's convinced that my toy & model soldiers have been better investments than gold.^&grin:wink2: After all, I can show her that the toy & model soldier market didn't bottom out like the stock market in 2008, nor like the dot com fiasco, nor like some of her china collections. Showing high-end e-bay prices sometimes works, as well. Creativity sometimes helps!
 
Another "wheeze" which is a bit long-in-the-tooth, but can work - is to take the dog for a walk around 15 minutes before the Postman is due to arrive. Walk in the same direction as he/she usually arrives - and intercept. Explain tht no-one will be at home, so - just to save him/her bringing any packages back - you can "save the legs" by taking it now. I assume (of course) that you would have befriended your local courier, way beforehand!!!

Always make certain that you have a driving licence/birth certificate/ passport (or similar identity docs) to hand - just in case he/she is a "jobsworth" - and a rucksack for the package, of course.

Sneaky??? - yes! Takes a bit of planning and prep? - well, yes! - But saves all of that tiresome disharmony sometimes -(and so inexplicably) - caused, by the arrival of a previously un-announced package{sm2}.

For advanced users of this method - I recommend the use of a garden shed as a temporary residence for the package - until your beloved goes out - when the aforementioned package can be transferred to "the den". A bunch of flowers can also help - from time to time!^&cool

I know it's very sneaky - but - ask yourself - What's the alternative??????? jb.:D
 
Sometimes, I order items when I know that my wife will be away visiting friends. If the planets are in the right alignment, the dealer & the postal service will somehow work in sync to get the package to me before the missus returns. The new arrivals are quickly interspersed among the existing ones, while all traces of the shipping box & packing materials are disposed of. My wife always notices when I've put on weight, but never notices my latest arrivals. I'm fortunate in that I don't collect planes or vehicles, as a few Egyptians here & there are much easier to hide.^&grin{sm0}

Well, if you're single now, but never had a prior marriage, you obviously don't know how "the system" works. The missus can always get something like a new pair of shoes because "they look great/go with my one outfit/were a bargain," etc. You can NEVER buy that additional figure/building/piece of equipment because "we need the money to pay the bills." Mental gymnastics & hard bargaining usually ensue. Deception and outright lying become an art form. If you want to keep the peace, dishonesty is the best policy.^&grin:wink2::rolleyes2::tongue:
 
Further to the last - I know of a friend who is now single BECAUSE of his (harmless) addiction!

Do develop your skills - IF you want to stay married!^&grin:D jb

Strange how more "Shoes" are essentials - whereas TS - are "A Waste"........................

Feel quite sorry for the guys who have to play around like this. No problems with my wife she is worse than I will ever be at buying things from this hobby and, even if she was not I would not have to hide stuff from her or, make excuses about what I am buying.
