It's almost that time again! My USC Trojans kick it off next Thursday against the powerhouse Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. I know Mike is anxiously awaiting my picks so he can go to Vegas and bet on the opposite teams.

I took action on Bama v. A&M before all of the Manziel autograph stuff went down. I am hoping he is suspended for that game as I have now found out the the bet I placed will be honored despite his possible suspension (I doubt he will be suspended BTW).

Beyond that I have Saturday November 16 circled on my calendar. As an SC fan I am sure you know why......

Think we all know who is most likely to prevail....again: Alabama.

Time to pick them. There are some embarrassing cupcake games this week. My favorites are Oregon v Nicholls St.; Ohio St. v Buffalo and ND v Temple. But also some good ones:

USC 37 Hawaii 20 - SC has an uncertain QB situation and a new D scheme. On the road, it might be closer than expected until halftime then the Trojans pull away on talent. Take your no dose meds as it starts at 11PM Thursday night.

Clemson 24 Georgia 20 - the game of the week. Hard to pick against the SEC, and Clemson usually chokes, but they have a ton of talent this year. I think they score enough points to win at home.

LSU 30 TCU 17 - Maybe a trap game.

Alabama 27 VA Tech 13 - Playing in Atlanta means home field for the Tide. No college team is too good to lose, but Bama may be close.

Northwestern comes into the season as a ranked team...which scares the willies out of me. We nearly always lose when we get ranked. Expectations are high in Evanston, and we're not used to that at all.

First up is Cal. Thankfully they ae starting a freshman quarterback, so hopefully he'll take a while to get on track.

New member and Tennessee Vol. It has been a tough ride lately. No bowl game in 3 years no bowl win in 6 years. Hopefully Butch Jones will make a difference. Mike.

Every program goes through a cycle like that. Alabama was down for several years, ND for a couple of decades. Getting rid of Dooley is a big plus. He seemed like a nice guy but was clearly out of his league. He reminded me of Goober Pyle. I particularly liked when he compared his team to the Germans on D-Day. Not real inspiring. You can have Kiffin back if you want him. LOL. The fans in SC are ready to chase him out of town.

Thanks for that! I had to laugh. Dooley certainly was not experienced enough. Kiffin and Chaney were not much better. Fulmer was the last good head coach we had. Of later years my favorite was the 05 cotton bowl win over my wife's alma mater Texas A&M. My shoulder still hurts to this day from her punching me! Of course I probably did get carried away teasing her! Mike. GO VOLS!!!

I will do you a favor at some point this season and pick the Vols to lose a big game. That will guarantee a victory for them based on my past experience predicting outcomes.

Manziel gets a 1/2 game suspension against Rice. LOL.

Lol! Hey, I find when I do not watch they win! It must be me. Thanks for that, Mike.

Five minutes into the first game of the season and my UMD Terps are ticking me off already. Two red-zone chances and all they have are two FG's, against FIU for cripes sake. They have also fumbled away a punt return. Hope it's just early game jitters.:rolleyes2: -- Al

No worries now as UMd got their act together and lead 40-10 at the half. UMd's Qb, CJ Brown, has put up 336 of UMd's 400 offensive yards as well as throwing for 3 Td's and rushing for 2 others. This ranks as a virtual tidal wave of offense for UMd, which last year didn't rank in the NCAA Top 100 in any offensive catagories. Fear the Turtle. :wink2: -- Al

Naysayers should note that I'm off to a 4-0 start with the picks. LOL. I'm sure that will even up next week. Great game between Clemson and Georgia. Congrats to Northwestern, MD, and TN. All off to big starts.

The Clemson-Ga. game was a good one and a bit of a surprise. Also watched the Tide and was a bit surprised at their offensive troubles, despite the final score. If that one guy doesn't have 2 special teams Td's and a pick 6, that is a totally different game. -- Al

Whoa!!! Army starts out with an impressive win over Morgan State!! Here's to us reliving the glory days of '45!!! {sm3}{sm4}

Johnny Halftime gets an unsportsman like conduct flag and pulled by his coach (of course once the game is safely out of hand). He is the Lindsay Lohan of college football. That is not going to end well. A&M should be ashamed of themselves for playing that guy.
