College Football - 2014 (2 Viewers)

I hope we Terps can give the Orange a battle. I still remember watching Larry Csonka run over the Terps in '66. It was his first year as the main RB after Floyd Little. Csonka rushed for over 200 yards and Syracuse won easily. As a rule, UMD hasn't done too badly against the Orange, trailing 14-18-2 in the all-time series. Maybe we can get a game closer.:wink2: -- Al
Terps win 34-20, but the Terps sure give up lots of yards. -- Al

Alabama is destroying Florida.

What a beat down by Bama, they could easily had 800 yards + if they had wanted or not turned the ball over so much, maybe not no.1 but look hard to beat after that performance...Sammy

Some close calls for FSU, Oklahoma, and Oregon. I was surprised that Utah went into Michigan and destroyed them. Either the Utes are much better than expected or Michigan is awful. I wasn't that impressed by Bama. Florida held their own on the line. That's usually where Bama dominates. They won this game with great skill players, but that rarely wins championships.

Arizona Wildcats!!! Never say never!! Losing 31-16 with 12 minutes left in the game the Cats storm back with score after score then with no time left hit a Hail Mary to win the game!!! Bear down Cats!!!...Sammy

Oklahoma is going back in time, their running attack is dominant, they keep rotating backs in and pounding the ball.

It was back and forth for awhile, but they won going away.............

Ugly retro uniforms too! I give OK credit though for actually playing a competitive opponent on the road. Some of the games so far (particularly in the SEC) have been an outright embarrassment. Georgia beat a team 66-0 this weekend. There should be an automatic penalty for playing a non-Div I team to discourage that nonsense. Some of these teams are now only playing four road games! Imagine if a NFL team could schedule a college team at home and then only play four road games all season.

'Bama and Ole Miss should be worth watching, but the game of the week for me is Notre Dame versus Stanford.

Ole Miss always seems to find a way to lose big games. Bama likely wins by two TDs. Stanford is playing 1950s style football. I'm not sure that gets them a win against ND. They are going to have to score more than 20 points. They have also been plagued with penalties and atrocious red zone play. 9 times inside the USC 35 and they could only manage 10 points. I hope I'm wrong but ND wins this one.

Old news...but kudos to Northwestern for FINALLY showing up and playing a football game against Penn State. They unexpectedly dominated both sides of the ball...on the road no less!

Boo to the Hyatt in Schaumburg for not carrying the B1G 10 Network and depriving me of the game!

Things are hitting rock bottom at Michigan. Crushed by Utah and Minnesota at home. Empty stands. A befuddled coach who allowed a clearly injured player to stay in the game. That program needs to bring in Harbaugh who is having problems in SF.

The talk in Michigan is they are talking to Harbaugh about the coaching job. J

Some nice matchups this week. No huge upsets this season, but a lot of close calls last weekend. Rain and general misery expected on the east coast could impact some games. The picks:

Alabama 34 Ole Miss 17 - Bama makes a rare road appearance against a decent team. Bama is not dominating the line with NFL talent as in past years and also have Lame Kiffin calling plays. Two fatal defects that will eventually doom them but they simply have too much talent and experience winning big games. An upset wouldn't shock me, but I don't think it happens.

Notre Dame 27 Stanford 14 - Stanford tries to ugly the game down and play football like it's the 1940's. That was working for them when they had the players, but this year they haven't impressed. And the refs make it diffcult to win close games in South Bend. The Trees should be praying for rain.

Michigan St. 37 Nebraska 20 - Michigan State looks good. Nebraska not so much. I predict a stomping.

Auburn 30 LSU 27 - Les Miles can often steal a close game, but Auburn at home will be a tough nut.

Arizona Wildcats rule!!!!!!!!!!!! to be honest I was ao busy with baseball I had forgot about the Wildcats playing in Oregeon last nite, great win for the Cats knocking off the no.2 team, puts the Cats at 5-0 and in 1st place in Pac 12!!!...Sammy

In the same spirit of Arizona's upset of Oregon, I predict UMd Terps will beat Ohio State in College Park tomorrow. Why yes, I am crazy. Why do you ask?:rolleyes2: -- Al

MD looks pretty good. Ohio St. is not the team they have been in past years. Anything is possible in college football.

Huge upset. Great job by ESPN scheduling the game at 10:30PM EST to ensure that half the country would be asleep before it kicked off. One trend this year is that a team that pulls off a big win has trouble regrouping the next week. Interesting to see if that happens to AZ next week against USC.

So far the Pac-12 South looks far better than the North.

Nice and raw in South Bend today. Temps in the 30s and rain. Ironically that may benefit the California team Stanford with their 1940s offense. I imagine recruits are not exactly flocking to ND when they see the kind of miserable conditions they are playing in.
