Concert Reviews - Live Music is Back! (2 Viewers)

Last night - Live in San Antonio Texas, I attended Iron Maiden with special guest "The Hu".

Wild and wonderful concert! Interesting to the board - The Hu, opening act is from Mongolia and I am not sure how else to describe it other than I felt back in time preparing for battle riding with Genghis Khan. They are a large band, use a lot of effects, but each song literally sounds like a war march! They were more like a thundering herd. Interesting to say the least, not sure if I would listen to them again, but they were quite unique.

Iron Maiden - Caught Somewhere in Time is the best way to describe the set. In their 60s, they still blow away any band of today. Complicated music, operatic vocals, story, showmanship and production. Worth it again. I will see them everytime they come around. 5 Stars.

Met Zakk Wylde at Emos in Austin Texas to see Zakk Sabbath again. Great show and he is just a cool guy. Outgoing and humble at the same time. He signed a guitar for me (Zakk Pee Wee), it was my son's first electric guitar now over 15 years ago. Going to surprise him at Xmas with it along with a photo when he was 5 playing that guitar. It was a pain flying it out there and back, but will be well worth it.

Other 2 bands - Zoso (Zep tribute), they were ok, had the look, but too much of an imitation on Robert Plant - sounded near perfect on a few songs, but on these misses, they were big ones. Surprise of the night - The Iron Maidens - all female tribute band, and actually where Nina Strauss got her start 15 years ago (She is now Alice Cooper's guitarist among other projects). They are fantastic, anyone who is a Maiden fan should check them out. Wish they were the only opener and played a longer list. It doesn't hurt that they are beautiful both in looks and personality!

Next up is AC/DC in April in Dallas.

Well, looks like the ultimate Black Sabbath Ozzy Osbourne concert is going to finally happen July 5 in Birmingham England. I believe I am going to make the trek, just not sure if solo or with my son depending on his future job. Ironically, he is graduating UTexas in May, turns 21 in June. Could be a cool Bday present (to both of us!!!)

Mission Phase 1 accomplished. Have secured 2 tix, airfare, hotels etc. Should be a heckuva experience, we are in the club level with the food, air conditioning, and comes with an outdoor seat too. It was a persevering experience, and I will not bore the board with all the details. I will say one thing, Ashton Villa Club services and a gentleman there is probably the nicest person I met during the process, he took a lot of time with this Yank and I have a feeling it is going to one cool day. Top notch person and can't thank him enough. Now to Mission Phase 2 execution in July. Birmingham or bust.

I heard Ozzy is in a wheelchair due to Parkinson's, not true?

He was when we saw him at the Rock Hall of Fame. I figure he is going to do what Axl Rose did when he broke his leg - perform from some sort of throne. When he did the Commonwealth Games and the LA Rams game, he was basically in a stand up frame. Voice sounds great, but his body is breaking down. Still worth it to me!!

To each his own, I don't equate spending money with sense. For me, the money is not the issue, it is the experience. We all choose how we spend and I hate to break it to you, but you can't take it with you. SO, you can either have a lot that you can do nothing with except watch it or you can actually spend it on something you choose to spend it on. SO - 795 pounds a ticket for the platinum restaurant seemed ideal to me and I am going to enjoy it. After all, isn't that why you make money, to enjoy life? Carpe Diem baby.

Same reason I funded the Kellys Heroes production of the late Doug Dearth. I did it for me, knowing full well it was a business for Doug and he was going to sell prints at a cheaper price later. That wasn't what is was about for me, it was being part of the idea and funding it through an artist for my end enjoyment.

I learned a long time ago how short life can be. I decided at that point in life, I am never going to be one to constantly say, I wish I would have done that. So in my opinion, your "sense" is yours, not everyone else's.
