I do like these figures but I have to agree, I have the St Petersburg collection book by Areo art and Ive noticed a few discrepancies especially with period armour

Yeah, looking at that aztec figure again, it kind of looks like Patrick Stewart. Clearly, the sculptor didn't look at all at the physical characteristics of the part of the world.

I really like the Russian stuff but the knights are so lavishly over the top that it kind tosses accuracy to the wind and gets away with it most of the time.

It's kind of frustrating. The Naps and ACW are a different story. Imagine a full on Zulu War dio with these types of figures. That would be awesome.

These figures are really awesome, and I have been surfing around checking out Russian made and other figures, but I know very little about them. I believe Aeroart's figures are not assembled and painted kits but painted figures and that Andrea Miniatures are kits that they also sell assembled and painted from their website. Is this correct? If so, won't assembled and painted kits be much frailer with all those parts than simply painted figures, ? Do they often survive posting them anywhere? I don't really have the time or talent to paint and if I had it would certainly be a joke when compared with all this professional artistry, so I only think in terms of finished product...
I also see that painting has different levels, even in the connoisseur league, guess the best foot figures would cost about 100USD or Euros, for me sets are out of my league, but individual figures look very tempting, really art pieces. Oh, yes, thanks a million for this thread and the wonderful photos.

Because most of the figures come from Russia which loves the EURO, prices have gone up. US$100 for a foot soldier I think is already a very good price. Generally, for a very well painted figure, you will have to pay more:

Having said that, I am very happy with the price/quality ratio of Aeroart. And no damaged figures (so far), while I cannot necessarily say that for the figures I bought in Russia directly.

I would like to thank you for the links and info provided. Really tempting stuff! From surfing around, Aeroart looks like the best bet, although Andrea and other European sources are apparently easier on an European budget ( especially because of customs...).

Many of these are beautiful as I have noted before. Interestly though, I just found that the Niena Studio semi collector version of the 95th Rifles is not nearly as good as the much cheaper First Legion figures.

I have never seen a Niena figure first hand, but I have to say that I don't like what I see in their website: not everything that is Russian shines...
