You know the ones... the events that are constantly called into question such as the Moon landings and 9/11 as well as almost anything involving the CIA, the Vatican or MI5.

What about all those whose deaths (or supposed deaths) have caused much discussion over the years like Hitler, J.F.K., Elvis, Princess Diana, Tupac Shakur etc. ?

Which ones do find ridiculously cringeworthy? :redface2: :D
 
Oh and by the way a work colleague asked me the other day if I found it strange that no Jews died in 9/11?

What a moron! ^&grin I couldn't believe that those sorts of urban myths/legends are still around. Don't worry I set him straight. I'm just amazed at what people take for gospel! :eek:
 
The conspiracy theory that HMAS Sydney was sunk by a Japanese submarine on 19 November 1941 instead of actually being sunk by the German merchant raider the HSK Komoran.

I think this remains Australia's single worst loss of life on a given day - all the cruiser's compliment of 645 men. Also, 81 Germans lost thier lives and 318 became prisoners-of-war.

And also the single bullet theory..............
 
And also the sinking of the USS Maine in Havana Harbour in 1898 triggering the Spanish-American War. Did the Spanish really blow it up?

'You know the ones' Oh man do I !!!. I once flew back from Florida seated next to a man who by his own confession was obsessed with conspiracy theories, my god it was the longest most tedious flight I've ever had. He went on and on about every theory you can imagine. Hitler is alive and well and living in America, Dianna and Dodi are alive well and married, no one landed on the moon or they did and found Aliens, the World is run by a secret panel headed by a giant Lizard, Jack the Ripper was a Royal family member, FBI responsible for 9/11....if the aircraft windows hadn't been so small I'd have pushed him out of one!

A guy at work once gave me a whole lot of DVD's about the Illuminati and how if you fold a US dollar bill in certain ways you see all these occult symbols. He then went on about how 911 was a plot by the illuminati and how there was no plane at the Pentagon explosion etc. Apparently Tony Blair is a high witch as is GWB etc etc. It was interesting for about 5 minutes but then got tedious.

I'll say he was, I went to the Shivah of Richard Ross who was on Flight 11.

That one was solved after the Spanish American war when the wreck of the Maine was raised and towed to sea for scuttling. The hole in the hull bent outwards indicating an explosion in a coal storage compartment.
 
I sat on a metro (north east rail link) the carriage was empty and I pulled into west monkseaton and, at the far end of the carriage a guy got on wearing a bin liner with the arms cut out and carrying a broom shank.

As I seem to have the neon sign above my head saying nutters form a disorderly line here he walked right up and sat opposite. The bin liner saves him from the radiation waves from the aliens and the broom as its wood and a natural element, not man made, defeats the aliens.

Apparently we had been infiltrated by aliens who had escaped from the US facilities. I do now know where Elvis is and a few others.

The History Channel has been a big culprit in spreading the BS. They rarely have scholars on the programs with alternate versions of Ancient Aliens, Prophesy etc. Even a quick GOOGLE search will give you sources of what cattle mutilations really are and that it wasn't a UFO sighting in 1630s Boston.

I just can't stand antisemetic people. As a (nonpracticing) Jew, I can say there is nothing I would like more than to be incredibley rich and controls the world; but incase it is not obvious, I am/do not. My condolences on your loss of a friend.

Also, regarding the Pentagon, my cousin in law was actually about to coss the street for a meeting with some official (that had been previously schedualed for the Twin Towers) when he saw a plane crash into the Pentagon, whereupon he called the police.

A woman I knew some time ago was convinced that Custer was killed as a result of a complicated conspiracy. She claimed that Grant, knowing Custer's propensity for glory and aggrandisement deliberately put him in a position to attack singlehandedly thus ensuring his defeat. Her claim for proof of this was that she had been unable to find an autopsy report on Custer's body! When it was pointed out to her that the surgeons present had their hands full with the wounded and that an autopsy would have been impractical if not impossible, she airily brushed this aside as further proof of the conspiracy. The thing that worries me is these people are entitled to vote! Trooper

The local AM radio station here carries George Noory's show, starting at midnight. You want to talk about conspiracy theories? Hoo, boy, that's all of his content. The other night, he started off with a discussion of the coming takeover of the world by zombies. Look him up online, it's very entertaining to listen to him and his callers.

Of course, his show follows Michael Savage's show, which is becoming more and more of a conspiracy theory show every day.

The only conspiracy-like theory that I ever gave much credence too relates to the electric car. And it has nothing to do with global warming or that debate, but just protecting massive profits for the oil and car companies. These companies have used every means to suppress them for decades. Made up a lot of myths via bogus organizations with friendly sounding names. My favorite is that hundreds of pedestrians will be run over because electric cars are quiet. Or that they are limited in range to the point that they are useless for most (that's why manufacturers like GM make them with a range of only about 100 hundred miles even though a start up company like Tesla makes one that can go 300+). They don't require much maintenance (no oil changes etc) - so car companies lose out on the hefty service fees where they make most of their money. In California they even forcibly repossessed all electric cars that had been leased to customers when the law was repealed requiring them to make available some electric cars. These were all crushed into tin cans. The hybrid compromise is actually a worse case car. It's expensive because it requires both the electric components and the ongoing maintenance on the combustion engine. So it's the worst of both worlds for the consumer while putting off the date when we will have to switch to some alternative fuel source - perhaps out of necessity. This is one of those rare situations where the government needs to intervene but it never will due to the influence of the oil lobby. Like many avoidable disasters nothing will happen until there is a crisis of some kind that necessitates action.
 
Wow! The Custer Conspiracy was a great one. Hadn't heard that one before. After 9/11, one of my students told me that former VP Gore was in league with Bin Laden. When I asked him why, he said. "two things; first, notice that Gore has grown a beard and, second, that you have "Al" Gore & "Al" Qaeda." Surely some of you are old enough to remember hearing how the Soviets sabotaged the Kennedy half dollars by putting the hammer & sickle on the coins. Or the person who signalled the Kennedy assassin(s) by opening & closing his umbrella just as the motorcade was going past.
 
The ripples of 9/11 were that my daughter's doctor and the husband of my mother's tenant (she rented a shop space to the woman) were also on the planes that hit the Trade Center. A friend of my In-Laws was in one of the towers. A lady that reenacts and was at a CW reenactment where I was, had a car breakdown in Maryland and missed her appointment on Tuesday morning at the Trade Center. She was driving into NYC from Maryland as it all happened.

There must be a reason that so many people have to add further meaning and mystery to such an event.
