Conte updated his site today and announced a new Western range by kicking it off with a look at some Tombstone figures. I have always been fascinated with the wild west and hope there will be a good following with this range.

Does anyone know if the new french foreign legion sets are going to be metal?

WOnder if they will be metal or plastic ?

Well, the figures look great on the site. Is this being produced before the "Patriot" playset or after he completes the "Alamo" range? Just curious??

Or finishes the viking range or WW2 range?

If these come out in plastic i'll pick some up to play with my 5 year old son. He'd love them.

It never ceases to amaze me the comments that appear by the infamous doubting Thomas when ever Conte's announced a new range. They've eaten crow in the past an will again as the sets become availalbe. Both the Western and FFL series will be in metal. Check out his intro of the western series by visiting his web site www.conteco.com and the current specials he's offering......The Lt.

I just want to say that I am not slamming CONTE - I love their products and have all their sets. What I don't like is buying into a range - like the Bloody Omaha becasue of the talk about the next set that is in the works (the German defenders which were to be in the same plastic as the GIs) and then nothing happens. Also the Viking range, I purchased the second ship becasue of the sets for sacking the Norman Keep, that was talked about but never happened. I have the Warlord set and was hoping to add on to it with the new stuff that was stated as being in the works and ready to release ......

So there is a long history here of sets that were planned and never released. I understand it is a business, but maybe announcements of new sets and the support of ranges should not be made so far in advance.

That's just my view and thoughts, and I will not be eating crow, I will just be plesently surprised and very happy to buy the sets that have been promised for years. Conte is the only company that announces product years in advance, which is where I think most people get frusterated.

He's explained more than once why in the past sets an figures did not come about. Since his move to North Carolina he's delivered to date on what he's announced since his move Matthew. I've seen no where were he promised to deliver on the announced set that never came about an he's stated more than once as his reason for them not being made available which in turn by some were stated as excuses...................Joe

It seems to me that in the past year or so Conte has released what they annouced...am I wrong?

Hi Peter and Lt - you are both very corect. Since the move to NC all items announced have been released. So I hope this is a continued trend.

I will state again that I enjoy the Conte sets. I am a play set fan, so the painted figures don't work for me. They work, it's just not what I collect.

I guess the Bloddy Omaha announcement for the follow on sets must have fallen into the cracks of the move to NC. I thought that with the new GIs and the New Spartans that new hard plastic German WW2 would be right behind. Still waiting, and I am sure will be waiting a long time.

I am not trying to trash CONTE, never have, never will but it seems that LT wants to use me as the poster child.^&confuse

I agree Lt. If you look what Conte has put out since 1999, it is quite substantial, in metal and plastic playsets . I've said this before, the products are well worth the wait, and early on he was producing the playsets and metal at a very good clip.
I collect from the numerous other manufacturers and pick up the Conte items when they come out rather than fretting over items that were talked about 5-10 years ago.

When I first started collecting 54mm painted metal Conte was the only manufacturer I would buy but it does take a long time between announcing a new range and actually become available. Some of us are getting up in age and can't wait forever.:D^&grin But he has done better since he took back control and moved to N.C..

I had thought I had read that the FFL and the Western items were going to be in Plastic ?

Thought I'd pass these along for those who haven't visited the Conte Collectible Web Site

Those figures look great. Would be nice if there were some accessories to with them, like buildings, horses, etc.
