Conte has announced a Western range. (2 Viewers)

The figure is wearing the movie costume avec sash so the figure is pretty good at showing Thomas Hayden Church in the movie. Will there be a Dana Delany figure in tights? :wink2:

A Dana Delany figure? I'd sell my mother to the Martians for a shot at Dana Delany.

There was the Marie Osmond "Josephine Marcus."

For us plastic guys thank goodness there's TSSD for this western theme! I wish if Conte is done with plastic, he'd do the metal figures in monochrome like he did some special figures for the playsets. I would buy those as a plastic collector as they work very well. I know Conte's is a prototype but while it might be more to historical accounts, the TSSD pose appears to have sharper lines. Maybe the TSSD pose is a reverse image like the famous billy the kid reverse image where many thought him to be left handed (who was actually right handed).

Ok so CONTE is not doing his Earp series in Plastic ? Is this correct ?

In metal they are the Earps and Doc. Great collector figures. In plastic you could buy several sets, cut 'em up, convert them to ACW, Steam Punk, Victorian colonial as well as other western characters.

Hi Lt! With all due respect to you, Conte should be releasing photos of actual painted figures with catalog numbers and prices rather than these sculpts and prototypes on their site. That may get customers interested rather than wondering if they will see the light of day.

As the Tombstone figures look like the actors as in other history movie Conte sets, you really end up with a diorama of the movie.

I along with others I'm sure find no fault with Conte introducing a prototype sculpted figure and enjoy seeing it painted. He does provide you with a catalog number an it's pricing. Your also informed when the figures are available to be shipped. He's also provide us with a scheduled based on what's currently in the works and what's to follow. By the way his first round of figures starting with his Zulu War Series have all seen their light of day an I have no doubt that others will.

Also other Manufactures provide us with un painted proto types and without pricing. Take John Jenkins for example whose also noted for it.

There's no doubt in my mind an I've a good hunch others will agree that many of the Conte figures resembling a movie star appear in many a diorama own my others which do not reflect their from a movie.

I've no doubt that others are looking forward to seeing what's next that's being added to the series.

Okay, still confused. Are these going to be in plastic or not?

Jay, I think that seeing the models in sculpting material didn't make clear that these figures will be painted metal. Sorry I didn't answer this more directly.

Lt.,

My point is that if you have movie star images at Rorke's Drift, you have a diorama of ZULU the movie. If you have John Wayne and Richard Widmark at the Alamo you have a diorama of the movie. The peripheral figures of soldiers are just fine.

Spartacus was real but who knows what he really looked like. The figures for this series look good.
The Warlord and Beau Geste existed as fictional films w/o an actual event. (Although Normans and Vikings, Legionnaires and Tribesmen did fight.) I have the plastic figures from these sets and they're "fun." The plastic Mexicans from the Alamo series are 1st rate. The defenders are mostly slightly retooled Roger's Rangers, Rev-War, Confederates, and Zulu figures with the movie stars added.

On the other hand, If one takes actual American soldiers as in the case of the 5th New York at 2nd Bull Run, and make them "action heroes" when historical documentation does not have them charging with drawn pistols, that's wrong. They weren't fictional movie characters.

I might be mistaken about metal figure availability from sculpt to catalog and I'll stand corrected on that.

Another sneak peak of a figure being added to the series.

Thanks Lt for sharing these. I think they are terrific and can't wait to see the finished product. In plastic or metal these appear to be superb sculpts.

These are certainly gorgeous examples of 54mm sculpting. Mr. C does a good job on expressive faces and the interactions between figures. I hope his sales are good. These are cool figures. The only reason I don't plan to buy them is strictly that I don't have space for the figures that I already have. If I had the space a "western" set or scene would be fun to add.

By the way, I'm glad the RC or his sculptors used holsters and belts that are more appropriate to the period. The low-hanging "buscadero" holster is more from 1950's and 60's TV than the old West.

Thought the members might find this interesting as I mentioned awhile back we also may have had a look alike in years gone by.

Nicolas Cage was put side by side with the Civil War era picture that's been sweeping the Internet in conjunction with a theory that he is in fact a vampire on "Late Show" (Weeknights, 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS). David Letterman presented the picture to him and while Cage acknowledged a resemblance, he didn't see a flattering one.

The photos of Nick Cage and his ACW counterpart along with several other movie stars and their ACW look-alikes were featured in the October 2011 issue of People Magazine. My wife Lynn showed me the article which I found to be intersting. It was astonishing to see how closely the featured well known movie stars of today resembled ACW soldiers.
