Alex: I used Tamiya Dark yellow-xf-60 for jackets and belts. Highlighted belts with a little xf-57 buff and did leggings in buff. Packs I used Desert yellow-xf-59. Also some xf-51 for some packs, shovels and canteens xf-51 is khaki drab.Flat earth xf-52 for trousers, xf-10 flat brown for boots and rifles.Olive drab xf-62 for helmets and some trousers.Slings are made using black electrical tape. Take off sticky side with turps and tape the cleaned pieces on a piece of cardboard or glass and paint one side red brown then other side when dry. Cut strips with hobby knife for slings and super glue a small loop to one end then glue to weapon front and when dry glue other end to rifle butt. Trim excess sling. Figures were given two coats of Krylon clear for protection but dried glossy. Matte did not dull it down so I tried Floquil Figure Flat spray which did the job. Touched up mettallic parts after that. Thats it. John

Those are great looking soldiers, you all have done a super job painting them. I was inspired by the photos and bought some of the TSSD and Conte plastic soldiers, but probably will not paint them:(

If you want troops painted, I would suggest FERNANDO ENTERPRISES in SRI Lanka. They do an excellent job and charge about $3.00 yankee funds to paint 54mm plastic foot, about $5.50 for mounted.Turn around time is about 8 weeks. I have sent them 54mm Napoleonic British { drive me nuts, I painted about 40 and lost interest/patience} and they are splendid.EXACT unifrom info needed for what you want done.I have a slew of Italeri Austrians I will probably send them some time.
They paint for me the troops I want but dont have time, enthusiasm to do myself.Like the British, I did the French while waiting for my order.
Several online toy soldier shops also have their troops done there for sale on the web.

Forgot to mention the shipping. For plastics add .25 cents per foot figure for it's airmail there and back again. The return via DHL.
Always on time, Always pleased with results.Just thought I would mention this painting service as they are very good and very reasonable prices.

Looking back in the archives it seems that we already have a thread for conversions. With a little luck we can bring this thread back to life by posting some new pictures in it so if you have any painted or converted plastic please post some pictures here. Come on FUBAR!!! I know that you have a ton of converted figures kicking around how about posting some of your conversions even if they are not painted or half painted like most of mine. Looks like alex and ledmen also tinker around do you guys have anything new? I like to do mine in the winter when theres nothing to do and I have cabine fever so I haven,t done any lately but when the winter comes back around and I start to do some more I,ll try and do a step by step with pictures along the way.

The problem with most of my conversions is that they end up half painted and set a side and I forget about them or loose interest and I end up with tons of half painted figures.
